The next version is ready. As you’ll read above originally I was going to rely on a plugin for the main menu. I realized that’s silly and added a built in simple responsive menu to the latest version (v1.1.1).

Also, I’ve decided that the theme will actually be called “Rain” and not “Flutterum.” Because I could create other themes in the future, all under the Flutterum umbrella.

Hopefully the free “Rain” theme will be in the WordPress Themes repository soon. Until then, you can download it at Flutterum.

Hey what do you mean by the new bbpress won’t be “theme integration friendly”? I’m looking for a forum that will easily integrate with my wordpress site. I was going to hold out for this new bbpress plugin, but I’m curious to know what you’re talking about. Does that mean it’s going to be difficult to make the new bbpress theme match your existing theme’s look?

I am so impatient. :) I never thought I’d be excited about a forum plugin, but I am. I check here everyday to see if this has been completed…

@JJJ or whoever wants to chime in. You responded to Rootside and explained the login page, but I’m not sure if that answers my question. It sounds like you’re talking about a login page integrated into a WordPress page. But, I want my members to also be able to use the default WordPress registration and login page (wp-login.php). That will work with the plugin right?

Okay, nvm. I just read more about the new plugin coming out and it looks like anonymous posting will be possible. Woohoo! I can’t wait for this plugin!!!!

Nah, it’s not that important to me to pay someone to make it. Maybe one day someone will make the plugin.

You what would also work, if there was a topic description plug in. Some forums let you post a title & a short description below that, then your message. I’m surprised bbpress doesn’t already have this type of plug in.

    Hi John,

Good question! I would only want the person posting the topic to have the additional field. People that reply would just have the normal message box.

    Thanks!

Does anyone have any suggestions for showing the bbpress avatar next to comments in wordpress. I know a couple suggestions were given here, but, I don’t want to try the first suggestion, because they say to delete a file in my plugins, and I have a feeling that will cause more trouble than it’s worth. I saw another suggestion, tried it, but the avatar didn’t show. This probably won’t happen, but, it would be nice if there was a sister plugin to this one for wordpress… and you installed it and magically the bbpress avatars showed up. :) Wouldn’t that be nice. Unfortunately I don’t know php very well.

Here’s hoping someone can come up with a solution!

Nice, that sliding login panel I saw on a site a while back… I thought about implementing it on my site. It’s nice, good job!

It may be bb-avatars like ashfame said, I forget the name now. Anyway, I use an avatar upload plugin and you can allow members to upload an avatar, use a gravatar or identicon.

Thanks guys, I’ll try both of those tonight when I get home, I’m at work right now. It probably is the space. CSS can be sensitive. :)

I wish I wasn’t so picky, then I wouldn’t even be worrying about this.

That didn’t work for me. I event added !important to it and emptied my cache. :(

That’s actually one of the things I tried last night. Anyone have any other ideas to make the following bold?

    <span class=”page-numbers current”>1</span>

If it helps, .page-numbers {font-weight:bold;}, works! But, it changes all the pagination links bold and not just the current page. So, you would think the .page-numbers .current code would work but it doesn’t. I also tried .page-numbers #current and .page-numbers current

This plug-in works great, I just wish users could register via OpenID. I think your plug-in does allow this now, however, I use wordpress for registrations because I’m able to make a custom registration e-mail and it’s simpler and more sleek than the bbpress registration.

If only there was a way to make a wordpress OpenID plugin that would play nice with your bbpress OpenID plugin. So, users could register with OpenID using the wordpress registration page, then login with either the wordpress login page or the bbpress login page using OpenID.

Because of my set up I always have weird requests since again, I use wordpress for registrations and bbpress for log ins. 8 |

I’m hoping someone creates a plug in for google friend connect… I’ve been trying to find a way to let anyone sign into my site. I know there is OpenID, and bbpress has an OpenID plugin thanks to _ck_, but I can’t get it to work like I want. The main issue is, I use wordpress for my registrations, and then bbpress as my login… I chose wordpress as the registration part because it’s very simple… they just have to enter their name and e-mail. And, I forget why I chose to use bbpress as the login part… haha :). Anyway, again, I’m hoping to one day find a way to let anyone login using other popular services like google and facebook and twitter.

If anyone has any ideas let me know…

I’m wondering if it is possible to allow people to login to my site using google for example, without having to mess with my user database. In other words, I know there are plugins that will allow people to register with their google account, and then behind the scenes the plugin creates a wordpress or bbpress account… I’m wondering if it is even possible to have a separate system so if someone wants to sign up for my site they can, but if they just want to log in via google, for example, they can do so without the plugin creating a new user in my database…

new issue… when I login using an OpenID, for some reason it is going into an infinite loop and the browser gives me an error. Why would it be doing this?

Google doesn’t seem to be working. If I use google.com as my open ID I get an invalid page from Google. Has Google changed their format since this plugin was made?

Good news! I am integrated 100% for the first time in over a year!! Woo!

The only thing I need to do later is I am going to redirect any logging in or logging out through bbpress. Because I can’t log out from wordpress now, but if I log out through bbpress, then it logs me out of bbpress and wordpress correctly. So this is really not a big deal, I will just change any log in/log out links in wordpress to the bbpress log in/log out links.

The way I was able to get my reverse integration to work was by following the normal reverse integration instructions, then I chose to install Ann’s plugin which downgrades the 2.7 wordpress cookie set up to the 2.5 cookie set up.

    :)

I am using the same database and user table. I was using wordpress 2.6 so that explains why it didn’t work. But, since then I have switched to wordpress 2.7. Are the cookies from wordpress 2.7 compatible with bbpress 0.9? I’ll look over the Intergration 101 again to see if I’m missing something.

I don’t know if this will help but, if I log into my forum, and then go to my blog’s login page it will say in red “Please login again.” So, wordpress knows that I was logged in, but there must still be something wrong with my cookies that it is not keeping me logged in.

Thank you chrishajer! There was not only a space at the top of the code, but there was also a space at the very bottom. I removed the space at the top and still got the error except it said line 142 instead of line 1… so I figured out there was a space at the bottom.

I have another question if you are familiar with this plug in. In the bb-avatar-upload.php file there is an option you can turn on that will show the avatars from thumbnails. This is turned off by default. If I turned this on, would it just create a seperate thumbnail image for each avatar? If so, what is the advantage? Faster page load time?

    The full error message is:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/mysite/public_html/forum/bb-plugins/avatar-upload/unsharpmask.php:1) in /home/mysite/public_html/forum/bb-templates/kakumei/header.php on line 1

For now, just to get rid of the error, I turned the unsharpmask function off by setting it to “0” in bb-avatar-upload.php.

What does the unsharpmask do anyways? Just make the image look better when it’s re-sized or what?

I’m getting a headers already sent error by /avatar-upload/unsharpmask.php when I try to upload an avatar. The avatar uploads fine and everything works but the error is annoying. Any ideas? is the “unsharpmask.php” file absolutely needed? If I remove it would the error go away? Probably not…

What causes that “headers already sent” error?

I’m confused though. I thought that IE8 automatically renders pages like IE7 unless you tell it to behave better with a meta tag. At least that is what this article says:

Version targeting in IE 8, and an alternative path for Microsoft

So why is a code needed to tell IE8 to act like IE7, when supposedly it already does this?

I’m still researching and just not learning about IE8 so maybe I’m reading the above article wrong.
