Because I am re-arranging things and need to merge the forums with a different blog.

They are mixed into the database, yes.

    I’m using BBPress 2.0.3 and WP 3.4.1

Please clarify to me if I’ve misread this, but each user can only have ONE role, correct?

Which is why I wanted a way to do this without altering member roles. Because I have a fair quantity of members with a unique role already (I heavily use User Role Editor).

Like I said… I have two users who have a custom role already: StoreItems. So they can edit items in the store from a different plugin. Their bbpress membership is normal. One of these users will eventually have VIP and the other will have Special.

In order to do as you instructed, I will have to make some convoluted things happen.

This plugin looks super useful. I’ve installed it and am poking around it. I wonder- can ranks be made for conditions other than post count? I use a lot of ranks that are related to being part of a group, or a role if necessary. (Other than moderator/admin)

It’s not what’s in the 1.5RC1 though is it? Because that looked like BBPress 1.0 :)

I tried to do this and buddypress won’t let me integrate them– it looks for a bb-config file which apparently does not exist. Ideas?

Any word if this version will play better with login integration on WordPress?

I personally hope that support for existing plugins will be a possibility, if not upon its release, fairly early on. I have a good BB forum running right now with enough plugins that the idea of not having them (or figuring out how to re-write them with the new needs of the bb-plugin) is making my head hurt. :-)

    Sweet. That’s wonderful to hear.

Sorry, just for clarity- does that mean that BBPress (plugin) will have a totally separate theme from the main WordPress install?

I’m presently running a Buddypress + Multisite install and I know my theme situation is more complicated than most, but I’d like to be able to carry over the Buddypress things (like the admin bar). Is this something that will be too sticky?

From my hours of searching, attempting to repair things I’ve got it nailed down to being a cookie problem, and it seems to be a wordpress thing.

I’ve been having this problem, too. Users are made and stored in WP and you can use both BBP and WP just fine. But you have to re-login to either.

It used to work a few WP releases back– before 2.8 I think? At some point fairly recently it stopped. I’d love a solution to this, but to be honest I’m just biding my time until the plugin becomes part of WP proper and the issue will (in theory) be moot.

I am wondering what the risk is still of installing at this point and losing all of the existing posts, at a later date due to a new release?

That’s literally the entire error. Everything is fine until that very last click, and then it errors.

It works fine if I config without integrating- did that twice by accident because I forgot to click the integrate button.

I was also concerned about this when I installed BBPress (in late November of last year) but have found it is more alive than this site tends to indicate. Activity is hopping on the plugin thread, and I’m really looking forward to it being finished! :)

The installation pops up at the very last step.

Up till that last button it was going smoothly. I was actually expecting it to work! :) (I tried it again)

I can’t delete the existing installation, because it’s on a live, active website with 3k+ users. So I installed it in a new directory and used a different prefix. (bb1_) It should still work with that, no?

This is the same problem I’ve been fighting. Would really love a solution to it…

I tried Raamdev’s suggestion and I got this error upon installation:

    Forum could not be created!

If I go to my bbpress main url, it says

    Oh dear!

    bbPress is already installed.

Perhaps you meant to run the upgrade script instead?

And then bumps me back to the same error of the installation page.
