@Erlend it is asking for your bbPress table prefix – typically bb_
In reply to: When bbpress 1.0.3?let’s just hope it doesn’t do too much breaking of what we already have but at the same time lays some foundation for the road forward so that will be a painless as possible. Equally important in my mind though is for many of the pre 1.0 plugins that were written by _ck_ and other and now for all intents and proposes lie abandoned – and sometimes work with 1.0.2 and sometimes don’t – be picked up by a new crop of dev’s. This would probably be a big help in getting potential new users to take the chance and try out what I think is a great package.
I know that this state of flux around the plugins was one ot he things that held me back from jumping in with both feet sooner.
In reply to: Ping Gautam: Revisiting bb-attachmentshere’s the dump of the diagnostic http://pastebin.com/zdKn58Gt I’m not sure what I’m looking for but hopefully it will help you
In reply to: Ping Gautam: Revisiting bb-attachments@Gautum there are three thread you can check to see what I mean

if there is anything I can do to help just hollar
@Gautam .. I did manage to find one of the things that was causing a problem. It has to do as I suspected with the PHP $_SERVER[“DOCUMENT_ROOT”] variable. It doesn’t exist in an PHP install on IIS.
Now I have found a work-around that <gasp> works and when tested returns the proper path (eg: C:/Domains/winextra.com/bb-attachments/ – which from what I can tell in the “instructions” is exactly how it is suppose to be)
But when I try to upload a file (text/image) I get the following two errors and I was hoping that maybe you could help figure out what might be causing them
Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for 83def462ed888db6e1ad898505ea40b6 in C:Domainswinextra.comwwwrootforumsmy-pluginsbb-attachmentsbb-attachments.php on line 342

any help (from anyone ) would be greatly appreciated as this is the last real big complaint my members have.
EDIT: The files are getting uploaded but to the root folder and they are not being entered into the bb-attachments table – http://screencast.com/t/Y2UyZGQ4
@Gautam I gave your ‘fixed’ plugin a shot but it still isn’t wanting to play nice with my set-up (PHP / IIS) as you can see from the screenshot – http://screencast.com/t/MTQ1NDFl
back the to hair-pulling I guess
In reply to: Successfully convert SMF 2.0 RC1 to bbPress 1.0@navjotjsingh – much apologies but I’ve had my head down recently in both work and another side project which has kind of delayed my posting about the experience. Hopefully I will be able to get back on track at some point next week and pull all my notes together and get the posts written.
In reply to: Import from SmartMachines?@LeftCoastMichael .. sorry about that but I’ve been tied up with life and haven’t yet started the series about converting to bbPress from SMF .. I really hope to get to it this week.
In reply to: Try out email subscriptionsit’s nice to see some work starting on improvements
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@Ben L … this is maddening because I know from your testing that it works fine. I also had my host get the guys at his data center run some tests (he’s also a good friend which helps) but they come back with this
Two of the engineers at the data center have run tests and looked at the logs and they have ruled any server side issues.
This is what they said in conclusion
At this point, I believe we can safely exclude obvious server side problems… If your customer has some concerns about missing .php modules, etc. (which they may confirm by creating a phpinfo page) we’ll be happy to address this, but so far we’re still not seeing a server side problem…
It is possible that the add-on may require more php modules installed but I would need to know more to go further
So I am at a real loss to figure out where to go next to try getting this to work. Very frustrating to say the least
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@chrishajer I have been talking with Nightgunner5 in IRC and from what I understand at this point he is taking a look at the plugin to see what is what.
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@citizenkeith I realize that is what is stated but I’ve had really good luck with a slew of plugins that are suppose to be to snuff for 1.0.2 so I was really hoping that this one would be as well.
If it is truly an incompatiblity problem is any plugin ninjas out there going to take up the plugin and update it? This is actually a pretty important option for users if you want to be able to be on par with other existing forum packages
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@chrishajer This is on a WinServer and the permissions aren’t a problem. Luckily my host is also a good friend so he’ll definitely be able to point me to any logs as well as point him to this thread as his direct involvement in the conversation might help.
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@chrishajer – I’ll have to check on the logs but regarding the rest Chrome indicates the files are being uploaded but nothing is showing up in the attachment folder (regardless of what level I put it at). IT shows up as an entry in the bb-attachment DB table but that is it. The actual file seems to have disappeared into the ether
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@citizenkeith – the newest one available for download (let me check — 1.0.2)
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@chrishajer I am pretty sure that it has to do with pathing but to be honest I tried the suggested debug but no combination of URLs I tried had any effects .. so suggestions would be more than welcome
In reply to: bb-attachments problems@gerikg – tried that also previously but repeated just now – folder position: http://screencast.com/t/NTFjNDFlM2Ut
post status: http://screencast.com/t/MzlhZmIwZ
as you can see something isn’t working right and be damned if I can figure it which means it is probably something really head smacking simple
In reply to: Import from SmartMachines?I just finished doing just this today after several dry runs. It is possible to do. Not easy but possible. I’ll be writing up how I went about doing it over the next week and will update when I do.
In reply to: bbPress INCLUDE in template@bEn L .. thank you very much .. we really need a codex with bbPress template tags
In reply to: bbPress INCLUDE in template@Taeo Ya I realize that bbPress doesn’t have the same sidebar ‘functionality’ as WordPress. What I’mm looking for is more of hte code re-use idea .. write one (or two) sidebars.php and then just include them so thanks on the PHP confirm – I am pretty much a PHP n00b …..
In reply to: bbPress IRC Transcript 12/9/2009glad to see that there are still some committed people to the project.
In reply to: Ping @Nightgunner5 – re: trailing slashesthanks Ben. For some reason Nightgunner5’s reply didn’t show up when I looked before posting this one.
In reply to: What's happening with bbPress?_ck_ while I can respect your pulling out of developing plugins for bbPress is there any chance of what you have contributed so far can be picked up by other developers so that we don’t have to start from scratch to replace many of the great plugins you have written?
In reply to: bbShowcase shut down?I can’t say exactly where I got this tidbit from but the ‘word’ I have been able to find out so far is that bbPress isn’t quite dead in the water. The rumor is that it might be picked up by another group heavy into WP projects. I’m trying to get some solid confirmation because I don’t want to have to go to all the effort of converting from SMF to bbPress only to be stuck with another dead duck.
In reply to: Converting smf forum to bbpressI have successfully moved a set of SMF 2.0RC1.1 forums to bbPress 1 with a stop off in phpBB3. It’s definitely not something for an inexperienced user to consider but like I said above I’ll be documenting the whole process sometime after this coming week.
