In reply to: add a "Featured Image" to a forum
OK, started my own topic as I was, obviously, not clear enough for my question. I thought it would have been a simple tweak (for someone who know what they’re doing) of this code but, apparently not.
How to set single default thumbnail for all “topic” content types?

In reply to: add a "Featured Image" to a forumHow can I vary this code to include a default image for topics? I post new forum topics to facebook and at the moment they’re showing a TERRIBLE giant picture – when there are no profile pics or attachments to display. I don’t even know where it’s being pulled from.

Thanks!
LIn reply to: SECURITY ISSUE: participant e-mails visible in BCCRob thanks for the plug-in, which I will use immediately, BUT how is it that it’s not considered a security issue to be giving out “confidential” e-mail addresses Via the BCC field?
It’s a big breach of privacy.
This should be fixed at the core! When spammers get wind of this all they need to do is reply or subscribe to a post topic to snag e-mail addresses of participants. They will.
I don’t want my e-mail address given away and both the BBPress forums and WordPress forums appear NOT to do this while the the default behavior of this application on any other wordpress installation DOES.
Please consider this carefully for addition into the WordPress core.

In reply to: SECURITY ISSUE: participant e-mails visible in BCCI meant BBC – too late to edit my subject line, now.
I know. I use the “bbP private groups” plug-in. Takes a bit to set-up, check that you don’t accidentally set ALL the forums to private with a user account in a different browser – that’s what happened to me with “out of the box” installation.
Vote me in for native implementation.

I installed both “fixes” and the search still does not include bbpress topics. For example there are several discussions on dog food and pressure cooker puddings in the forums so if I search for “dog” or “pudding” those topics should be included in the results, but they are not.

No, bbpress is up and running – just the search with the above code added to my functions file no longer shows bbpress topics as part of the results. Will click on the recommended fix links above to see if either fix will bring the results back.
Thanks & Happy Easter!

Unfortunately, with the upgrade to WordPress 4.x these little snippets no longer work – I read elsewhere that bbpress search had some updates which likely render these snippers useless. : (
If anyone has the updated code, I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks, that’s more than I can do – so Installed Plug-in Organizer and that helps me to make sure that any bbpress anything loads only when someone is in the /forums/ directory.

I just installed this bit of code and it works GREAT!!
Now I know when I find random code around it’s expected to be added to functions.php as well.
THANK YOU SO MUCH & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

P.S. I love that the forums show-up as well. Except now I’ll have to change the name to “xyz Forum” so it’s clear what it is in the search results.
Thanks, @Robkk I didn’t know how to use that – I didn’t realize it was as easy as adding it to my functions file.
Thanks for the addition @undergroundnetwork!
Since I posted I’ve been using this outdated-but-it-works plug-in.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-bbpress/Although that plug-in, works, it also displays shows links to slides that I have on the homepage in the results – not a big deal as I don’t have too many slides but I’d rather that not happen.
In an effort to reduce plug-ins I’m going to give this code a shot.

In reply to: BBP Results Showing in WordPress searchI used the first code snippet above in my functions.php with ‘post’,’page’,’topic’ in the array. It DID show the topics in search results BUT, unfortunately, it blanked-out my topic page (no topic or reply text just the title and reply form).
However, I took a chance and installed the super-old “Search bbPress” plug-in and edited the script to NOT add ‘replies’ to the search results and it worked!
Thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else has been hunting for a solution to this for weeks, like me.

I think I can help here. I was able to solve my problem after not finding the solution with plug-ins, themes, down-grades and re-upgrades. Un-installs and re-installs.
All I had to do was remove the custom bbpress file from my child theme. Totally NOT obvious soultion!! : )
I hope this helps.

In reply to: Still haven't found fix for bbpress for WP 4.0 ?OK, cannot go back to edit my topic – basically I turned off all of the plug-ins and still could not see the content of the topics. But I put on WP’s default 2014 theme and I COULD see the topics.
So— I suspect it’s my old-a** bbpress non-supported theme. For those of you who found fixes for your themes, can you tell me what you changed and what file you changed it in? I know all themes will differ but it will give me some place to start to do the fix myself.
Thank you!!!
L
I’m not using s2member and still have this issue.
OK, going back to WordPress 3.9.1 “fixed” the problem temporarily for me too – didn’t have to change custom links as someone had mentioned earlier. However, I would still like a permanent fix to this that does not require me to stay with a soon-to-be-out-date version of WordPress to work.
Thanks,
L
@yolle ‘s fix only shows the first topic post, and not the replies. Will rip-out and try down-grading now.
I know that some DB changes were made during the upgrade so I hope those are not the cause as I will only down-grade the files.
Wish me luck!

I’m having the same problem since upgrading BUT I don’t have s2Member AND I have the search option disabled.
I had the following bbpress-affecting plug-ins enabled (all latest versions):
-bbPress Custom Topic & Reply Notifications 1.4
-bbPress Moderation 1.8.3
-bbPress Stay Checked 1.0
-GD bbPress Attachments 2.1Also, I had a custom Topic Page.
I disabled all of the bbs-affecting plug-ins and removed the custom page from my child theme but the topic still won’t show up!!!
So, I re-installed bbpress.
Nada.
I’m going to try the suggested php fix and if that doesn’t work will down-grade until there is a solution!

ovizii it worked!
Thank you,

In reply to: Lost permissions for administratorTHANK YOU la79, that solved it for me. But BEFORE “All in one SEO” and “BBPress” were running happily together.
I had made some edits to my child theme functions file, and installed and de-installed Users Meta and that was when everything was broken. I re-installed BBPress (from zip), and the found this forum and de-activated “All in one SEO” and FINALLY the forums are back up.
Se the AIOSEO was note the CAUSE but, somehow, it was the SOLUTION.

Can you more clearly explain what you did? Getting this bug, un-installed and re-installed.
Thanks,
L
How do we access this feature in the new version?
Thanks,

In reply to: Hyperlink "Logged In" on notificationsOOOPS! I used a new browser with un-cached pages and it works!! Sorry. Still would love to change this text in a central location, though!
Thanks!
L
In reply to: Hyperlink "Logged In" on notificationsIt doesn’t work. I followed the instructions above, along with the theme.
- I downloaded form-reply.php
- I made my changes to it
- I uploaded it to /wp-content/themes/proxima-child/bbpress/
- Nothing changed on the website.
I would love to customize these messages. Even more to do it from a central location! I noticed that there are about 15 form files.
