That theme looks more like Thesis.
In reply to: bbPress 1.1 – Maybe Soon!Marius, that is a theme’s work – not of bbPress.

One can easily do a check on activation if
BBP_VERSION
is defined and optionally aversion_compare
check too, and if it doesn’t satisfy the condition, then the plugin should deactivate itself. In reply to: Front-end editingWe can load the same scripts, hooks etc. and it would come up. I haven’t checked that in detail, but it should be possible.
In reply to: Front-end editingAdding front-end posting with TinyMCE isn’t a huge task. Regarding image uploads, P2 theme already has that functionality.
In reply to: bbPress.org is running 1.1-alpha-2475 nowWhen editing a reply, the “Notify me of followup posts via e-mail” text appears twice (once below the “Allowed markup” and once above.)
I think this is related to theme, I didn’t happen on my installation with Kakumei.
This means that the theme here doesn’t contain
edit-form.php
and is using Kakumei’s. In the patch I posted, the action (to add the checkbox) is removed infunctions.php
and is instead added at a custom location in Kakumei’sedit-form.php
, and as functions of Kakumei aren’t loaded here, the default action isn’t removed and the checkbox is displayed twice. This doesn’t happen withpost-form.php
as it is present here.In reply to: bbPress activity metricsGreat!
I just had a suggestion – when the plugin would be public and this site’s posts converted, we could have an if statement above the topic like
if ( topic_date is before bla bla date || one of the topic_tags == 'bb_old' ) { /* load a message which says that this is for bb 1.1 and below, this doesn't apply to the new plugin */ }
But I’m also not against changing its name or having its version as
2.0
.This had been posted as a solution by _ck_ here – https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-plugin-is-born/page/3#post-71233
I don’t think we have any space for fakes in this community.

Still, regarding your questions (and answering them from whatever I’ve read):
1) I think it would remain as it is (can’t say much about it).
2) bbPress 1.1 would be released and maintenance release (bug fixes, etc.) might also be released as 1.1.1 etc., but I think no new features would be added in it.
3) GlotPress still uses BackPress, so it isn’t going anywhere.
In reply to: _ck_ owes me ten bucksLol..
Regarding 1.1, it’s fairly stable (I have it running on a big live site) and almost ready for aplha/beta after the 2 tickets on 1.0.3 and 1.1 are fixed.
In reply to: bbPress activity metricsBen (Nightgunner5) had written a greasemonkey script to show plugins’ stats – http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/63060
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is BornKevin my friend,
For those of us who make a living with bbPress, unilateral decisions made without visibility and with no re-course for questioning nor appeal are scary. really scary.
At least v1.1 is there for the time being, hopefully that would be released soon (after 2 bugs on 1.0.3 and 1.1 are fixed). It’s pretty stable and those who want to run a standalone, can run it and customize it with existing plugins/themes.
And about making a living, it can also be done with bbPress as a WP plugin
I think people are allowed to be a little shell-shocked at this bombshell; especially as it didn’t even warrant its own forum post, sticky or blog post. It just comes across as a footnote and unimportant.
The forum topic is this one and the announcement is here (I know no one told any of us about this blog).
For others – Justin just posted about the WP forum plugin that he has made on his own – http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/07/16/a-wordpress-forum-plugin-using-custom-post-types
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is BornCan we focus on the positives:
bbPress was laying there dormant – it now has a future. This future isn’t going to suit everyone but that’s life.
Exactly.
In reply to: Whoa! (bbPress.org 2.0 is live)The disorder of posts on profile page is related to #1301
In reply to: bbPress Plugin is BornPretty much unexpected

In reply to: Get last page in bb_initUse
bb_topic.php_pre_db
action. In reply to: Bug on bbPress.org forum? Those are very old posts, and bbPress wouldn’t have been that stable at that time.
Yesterday and before that, the members’ name was blank. It is happening because of the anonymous posting changeset, it checks if there is a name of the user or displays Anonymous. But I don’t think it is a bbPress bug, it is something to do with bbPress.org backend.
In reply to: The cost of Deep IntegrationNice stats!
In reply to: I need function "if is home" to bbPressYou can use the
bb_is_front
function (my previous comment went in spam).
