For those who have the same problem, here is the solution :

Here is how you can do it :

First you need elementor pro so that you can use theme builder

Then on theme builder you add conditions to your template for single post :

include :
Forums > Forums
Forums > Forums by author
and :
Any child of (to include topics too)

Then you exclude :

All pages
All posts

so that the template only applies to the forum

Then you create a page for your forum homepage and you paste : [bbp-forum-index]

on this page you have full control with elementor

the standard homepage is /forums/ so you just need to redirect /forums/ to this page (permanent redirect)

For some reason only profile pages and search pages are not included in this template, but not a real problem in my opinion

First you should have a more complexe login form with anti spam (recaptcha) or other system to prevent Robots to register to your site

do you have a normal wp-login form ?

Also you should noindex the profiles so that they dont get indexed

No size restriction, actually bbpress is much lighter than Invision, Xenforo etc
And i would add :
use LiteSpeed Cache : best cache for WordPress (and even better if you have a LiteSpeed server)

I will also need to migrate from other software to bbpress i wonder if there are some experts here for paid migration jobs ?

the second one i tested it : it works fine but there is a problem :

Case 1 : if user replies : he would see “reply awaiting moderation” on his post AND this post will be public : it should be hidden for all except admin / the poster

Case 2 : if user posts a topic : he posts the topic and then nothing happens, he can think its a bug, as he would actually have to scroll up to see his topic is actualy listed at the top with the topic subject (awaiting moderation)

so 2 problems in this case 2 :
– he can think its a bug and that his topic has not been posted and so would try again
– the topic subject is public : it should be hidden

Waiting to test first plugin to see if it works better !

I am using this plugin and it works well

I have just one problem about links

the same problem as this user : https://wordpress.org/support/topic/links-in-signature-do-not-work/

and i also tried in bbcode but it doesnt convert to a link

but i would prefer html as most users are used to html

of course a visual editor would be great, is that possible ?

This plugin has been closed from WordPress plugins on 11 february

Any other plugin to moderate topics ?

i was hoping that the feature for comments :

Before a comment appears
1) Before a comment appears Comment must be manually approved
2) Comment author must have a previously approved comment

would also work for bbpress

but i tested and it doesnt work…

Apparently only the 2 settings comment moderation blacklist are working :

– number of links
– stopwords

but the problem is there is no warning message showing if someone adds 2 links for instance and then submits, nothing tells him his post is pending moderation (same test for stop words)

Also the admin doesnt have any notification of pending post, no mail, nothing on dashboard, i had to go directly to admin topics to see the pending topics

Best moderation would be to always moderate the first post for any user, how could i do that ?

i just found this other moderation plugin that does exactly what im describing but it’s 8 years old without update, does it still work ?

i tried every theme, at the moment the default theme Twenty twenty one, makes no difference

if you have elementor you can try, i wonder why elementor doesn’t detect forum/ as a page

maybe because it is not a real page on a WP basis, forums and topics are, but homepage forum seems not to be (like profiles and search too)

for bockquote, you mean user has to click on B-QUOTE in editor then copy and paste the text then close B-Quote ?

Best would be a quote link on every message that would lead to reply box with quoted content in it, is that possible ?

Edit : actually any REPLY button on any message is simply a reply to the entire topic ?

Second question : can we quote on BBpress ? this is very useful, i dont see this option
