Well, I’m stupid. It was a caching problem with my browser, after a quick ctrl+F5 everything seems to be in order.
In reply to: BeginnerYou don’t have to have wordpress installed, this can be in a standalone directory. When you upload to your server it should go into a file folder, much like what is setup on your own PC. Consider this folder a domain and an extension.
So, if you upload to the ‘forum’ folder then you will enter this address to get to the install script:
Hope this helps.
In reply to: Sticky postSticky voting would be a great idea. Instead of a + – button for reputation for a certain user it could be used to + – a specific thread on whether or not it should be stickied.
In reply to: Theme Hybrid forumLooks like if fits the theme of your site very well, good integration.
In reply to: Frightmare Haunt ForumInteresting niche, good luck. Although, out of the box bbPress isn’t very scary looking.
In reply to: BBPRESS Maybe great software but my experience isAgreed with statements here, bbPress wasn’t created(being developed) to compete with the likes of vBulletin, SMF, etc. This is forum software that is light weight, no lacey undergarments, ready to roll and fast. If you want silly add-ons, a ton of user generated themes, and/or costly support looking elsewhere may be your best bet.
In reply to: Display latest post from WPI just use CarpRSS to convert RSS to html in my bbPress installation.
In reply to: Best answerGreat suggestion, I too would like something like this.
In reply to: Hundreds of subforumsI don’t know that there is an automatic way to do it, but you can manually add subforums. As many as you need.
In reply to: link back to blogI use CARP RSS to insert the latest posts from my blog within my bbPress forum. Also, as mentioned, make sure you are editing the header file from within the specific theme you are using. It’s not one header file fits all.
In reply to: Counting number of postsFirst off, holy cow $1 per post!
Second, https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/show-top-posters/ is probably a plugin that will help alleviate some of your worries.
Sounds interesting, but Adsense should be contextual out of the box. However, if you are looking to do something with affiliate banners, I would think there might be a variable you can attach to a registered user, although that is far above my realm of knowledge.
In reply to: Automotive bbPress w/ Google Search IntegrationActually it’s not broken, until Google crawls my page it won’t pick up any results. This forum has not been opened yet, a la no G bots taking a peak yet.
As for the looks, it’s fine that it may look like others out there. From what I’ve seen, in the niche’s I follow, bbPress is not common…at all. Therefore slight modifications of the usual theme seems to work.
In reply to: SatNightSpecials.comHurt my eyes a bit, but it did have a punk feeling to it. I’m assuming that was what you were going for, so looks great, the hacking had to have taken a long time commitment.
In reply to: Forum LightDoesn’t look like it’s in a table, just appears he cut out the Tags php from the original Kukemi template. I could be wrong.
In reply to: 3 New Blank bbPress ThemesThanks refueled, these would make some nice standalone bbPress sites.
In reply to: Can google adsense be used with bbpress?Yes, as mentioned Adsense is compatible, with the addition of code, with bbPress. Furthermore, I just finished integrating Google Search w/ Adsense into my forum, which I think will convert nicely once the forum is actually opened to users.
