I’ve been trying a lot of solutions that I’ve found around the forum but none seem to work (or are too complicated for someone of my level). I’ve even tried editing the bbpress-functions.php code and it all crashed down.
I will be hosting 3 different kind of users, they all have the same access and privileges, but I want to differenciate them between “bronze, silver and gold”. So I want that to display somewhere on the screen when they post.
I though about adding new roles and just setting the role name… but I can’t do it, I tried almost everything and nothing worked.
Any step by step guide on how to add new roles? I’ve found this https://codex.bbpress.org/custom-capabilities/ but I don’t know what files to edit nor where to find them.
Also, if there’s any way to add these custom ranks some html ID so I can target them via CSS and give them a different look & feel, that’d be great.

I’m working to set up my first bbPress (and first WP) site using the TwentyTen theme. I’m using WP 4.3.2 and bbPress 2.5.8. I want to hide the “Create New Topic” on a Forum’s page behind a link to discourage people from starting a new topic without looking at the ones that are already there.
I’ve got some php and html experience but have been beating my head against the code without solving this and and am running into a deadline. I’ll be very grateful for any help you can give me on this.

I bought and installed a template on a subdomain.
But I decided for create a new domain.
Subdomain with template I canceled and install the template to a new
domain. All works great, except one – plugin installed bbPress before
adding into the menu forums. After new installing the template
already in the menu can not be displayed forums.
What is wrong?

I run a site: http://rohamjelvenyek.com/, WP 4.4.1, BBPress 2.5.8, BuddyPress 2.4.3, Enfold theme.
The last week 2 strange thing happened:
1.
A user: who was moderator of the site for a long time, has disappeared from users, and all his forums become visible on the site under the name: anonymus.
As admin I did not do anything with this user before this happened, I only made the WP and plugin updates for the site. The user says, he did not deleted his account either.
2.
Yesterday (after 10 day of updating the site) another user who was moderator of the site for a long time, has disappeared, but at this time, his forums become visible under another user (a moderator) ‘s name.
What is very strange for me, that the issue happaned twice, but not the same way and time, and that the other 21 moderators have no problems, are not deleted.
I use a plugin: User Roles and Capabilities, maybe this caused the errors? But I cannot regenerate the issue on a test user, because I dont know, why exactly the users disappeared.
I let run a bbpress repair scripts after the issues, but I dont know, if it will help.
Please help me, I am afraid of other moderators will disappear also.

is there a way to group forums together so that they display on the forums front page in blocks? i tried using categories, but they grouped all the categorized forums in one line.

I’ve created a bbpress forum and it works well. My issue is when moving away from the main page and to a “topic” for instance, when I try to go back to the main forum page, it redirects to something else. I’m not able to see my Login/Register widget anymore. Nor, can a user logout. How can I fix this redirection issue? Here is the URL: http://bcgeholdings.com/forum/. There is no need to register, just move to a topic and try to go back using the index.
I use wordpress version 4.41 and bbpress 2.5.8. i have created a forum with bbpress, but users can’t login to the site. users get ‘blocked’ on a blank page at the top left corner of the page. i cannot even login except through wp-admin.
please i need an advice in resolving this issue.
Hi , I am recently having compatibility problems with bbPress plugin and PDF invoices and packing slips.
When active BBPress , the other plugin does not create PDF invoices automatically or manually bills.
what I can do to fix it ? 🙁

I would like to create and run a forum on our magazine site (http://www.1-2-family.de). Of course my first choice is bbpress.
The thing is, that I would like to separate the whole database (for security and speed reasons?) from the ones of the magazine. So I thought to create a subfolder (or a subdomain?) to install a second instance of wordpress. And then fill it with the same theme of the magazine all needed plugins (such as bbpress) to just run the community (forum) on this subfolder (or subdomain).
Would this be a good choice? I just dont’t want anybody beeing able to register in to the wordpress system, where the magazine is running. It’s just a weird feeling to me …

BBPress Blog indicates 2.5.8 came out July 13th, 2015.
