User integration works, but admin login doesn’t

Published on June 2nd, 2009 by

Running WordPress 2.7.1, bbPress 1.0-RC.

I got user integration working, so I can log in WP and be logged in in BP and vice versa. And I can log in as admin for the top-level site, but when I try to go to the dashboard for the any of the sub-blogs, it gives me the WP login screen and doesn’t recognize the password.

I’m using sub-directories instead of sub-domains, which may or may not be significant.

How to maintain log in?

Published on June 2nd, 2009 by

I seem to spend a lot of time here, but it is the only place I actually do get some answers.

Problem: Login works ok. And when I first installed bbPress I could close the page, return later and still be logged in. Then I loaded a few plugins. One for registration that does have problems. Well after a few trials of clearing cookies etc. to get the registration working I noticed that I have to login now each time I open the page. Is there some simple correction for this? Like yell at the cookie to stay logged in for at least a day?

Thanks

bbPress is working, but now I can’t log into WordPress

Published on June 2nd, 2009 by Metzae

I just finished successfully installing bbPress and importing the user database from WordPress, but now I can’t log into WordPress anymore. It recognizes my user name and password, but it comes up with a relatively blank page that simply says, “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” I’ve tried flushing my cookies and logging in and out but it’s no good.

Please help!

Hi.

Have uploaded bbpress to a folder in my server.

It’s at: /public_html/bbpress-0.9.0.4 and I have wordpress in that folder too.

So I just want to visit ‘the intended url’ but it’s not there. Have tried it a dozen times. What am I doing wrong?

bbPress v1’s eventual release

Published on June 2nd, 2009 by

I’m curious about the upcoming v1 bbPress, and what advantages it may have. Not that I expect a release any time this year from the news, but I’m interested to know what experienced users and programmers see as its main advantages.

I’m happy with 0.9.0.4 now, and have all the plugins I need to get the results I want (blessed be the name of _ck_). Does anyone think sticking with a sound and working v0.9x into next year is a good idea..?

Trying to use ‘bbpress’ theme in bbpress

Published on June 2nd, 2009 by

Hi,

I really like the look of these pages in bbpress support forum. I found a theme called “bbOrg0.01 theta-beta by Bryan Veloso” and uploaded it to my server and it came up on my list of themes in bbpress admin. But when I choose it, it looks like this:

http://englishforuniversity.com/forum/bbpress/

but I thought it would look like the page I am writing on. What more do I need to do??

Thanks

Strange Permalink and Post Count Behavior

Published on June 1st, 2009 by citizenkeith

I have Theme Switcher plugin installed, and recently installed the new bbPM plugin. Each plugin works fine, until they had to play together… I switched a theme on the PM page and it looked as though Theme Switcher was imposing pretty permalinks, causing bbPM to break.

What the heck, I thought, I’ll try pretty permalinks. I changed my settings, added the .htaccess file and all hell broke loose. The number of posts per page in a topic changed, and it was impossible to navigate multi-page threads (in a forum like mine, where friends hang out and chat, this is a big problem). For example, the thread correctly displayed 27 pages (30 posts per page), but when you went to page 10-27, no posts appeared. Turns out they were all grouped in the first 10 pages with tons of posts per page.

I switched back to regular permalinks, deleted my .htaccess file, but the problem persisted. I tried Recounting everything, and got this error for every recount:

Database error: [Query was empty]

Caller: [unavailable]

I finally turned off _ck_’s “Change Number of Front Page Topics” plugin (which I don’t think is an official plugin), and finally everything went back to normal. But I still can’t recount, and I still can’t use “Change Number of Front Page Topics” which I’ve been using without a problem for at least a year.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this one?

I’m running RC1 on Media Temple’s Grid Service. Recently switched over to Media Temple after using Dream Host for about a year.
