I run a website with a forum. I think I have around one or two gigabytes of space . It’s the cheapest thing out there. I’m considering installing the BB-Attachments plugin so users can upload their images to posts, without having to first use another website like Imageshack.
But, if this becomes popular, won’t it start requiring alot of space from my server? I imagine it can be full quite fast if people starts uploading their 5 megapixel pictures as much as they want.
I’m not a pro here, but is there some way that these files are not stored on my server? Since BBpress uses a database, is it stored in some clever way?
Come to think of it, an imageshack plugin would kick ass.

Much like this forum has where it shows a second page if a topic has over X amount of posts? I tried the topics per page paginating plugin but it doesn’t seem to work as I need or maybe the theme I’m using is killing it?
Thanks

Hi all –
While i don’t want a complete page caching option – is there anyway to either setup image only caching, or set it so that pages load completely structurally, then load the images in?
Right now the pages load top to bottom per post/picture – and we end up waiting quite a while for pages to load. (example: http://www.aethereverywhere.com/discuss/topic/the-animated-gif-thread#post-1289)

I’m wondering if I can use BBpress as a “blog” with the latest “articles” showing up as the “Latest posts” do here in BBpress.
So can I set up BBpress set to have a Navigation bar along the top with typical “About us” pages, “How you can help”, etc? (The usual top 5 to 10 pages you have on blog or introduction to your website etc). Any other ideas?
Then everything else can just be in the forums.
Also, because BBpress is a VERY stripped back forum with lots of plugins, does the plugin for email notifying still work? (Getting an email any time someone replies). Can I set ALL users to getting that?
Can I as the Admin set the “Tags/categories” that posters can then select from?
Is there an auto-backup plugin of some sort? (I hate database stuff).
What else do I need to install to use BBpress as my main community portal / blog (without wordpress).

We’re about to install and integrate bbpress with an existing WordPress installation. We put the WordPress files in a ‘wordpress’ subdirectory when installing to keep the httdocs directory clean. Will this affect integration in any way? If need be, we can move this back.
Ideally, we would like to have WordPress in a /wordpress directory and bbpress in a /forum directory with WordPress accessible via the root, and bbpress via /forum.
Also, on a slightly different note; how have people found integration with 1.0.2 and 2.8.4?

When I activate WP Integration, the primary users-database becomes the wp one! All bb users got deleted!
Is there a way to keep my bb_users and transfer them to wp_users?
kind regards
Tom

If we use bbPress as a forum… and WordPress as a blog… and that we can add a way that the members can upload photos to their own profile… we would then almost get a social software/php script and that would be awsome !!!
I am not a coder (i’m a web designer) but I do know that it can be possible to create this plug in.
I just saw your next look, the bbpress 2.0 and with that plugin, a profile album, it would be it !!
Than maybe later another plugin for same thing, but videos (either upload or grab via youtube), but this can be invented later… photos first !!
Any chances ???

Hi. I just installed bbpress without any problems. I am running IIS 6.0 and got my host to install the IIRF Isapi Rewrite Filter, since I cannot use mod_rewrite.
Currently my permalink settings are “none”. If I try to change permalinks to “name based” using the bbpress Admin area, my threads no longer work and show up as 404 pages.
Is anyone familiar with how to use the IIRF Isapi Rewrite Filter to get permalinks working? Many thanks in advance.
