I’ve 3 issues regarding my car forums i.e. ( http://car-n-car.com/forums)….

1. Page title:

it happened after deep integration…. the title of the page which usually show in the browser’s window and Google search has been broken.. now there is just a link besides title words,

2. Page Not Found:

when i select 1st option from permalinks i.e. http://car-n-car.com/forums/forums.php?id=1 then it work fine but its not good for seo .. that’s why i need 3rd option which is name based permalinks.. so when i select 3rd option then content goes hide and message apear regarding page not found.

2. Permalinks Problem:

my name based permalinks structure is like that

http://car-n-car.com/forums/forums/first-forum

means the word of forums is repeated 2 times, so i want to remove this one word ( forums ) from name based permalinks.. i think it creates all trouble for me and drive me crazy…

I submitted my plug-in “webpurify” on 2010-3-25

Just curious how long it takes for a plug-in to be approved.

I have installed bbpress and changed all of the links, etc. in the bbpress admin. I added “bbPress Forum List” and “bbPress latest topics” to my widgets BUT when I drag either the bbPress List or the bbPress Latest widgets to the sidebar, they show on the sidebar until view the site. Then (1) the forums/topics do not show up on the site and (2) when I go back to the Widgets page the bbPress widgets that I had previously drug onto the sidebar are gone! IOW, they don’t “stick” to the sidebar.

I have written a plugin that is a rework of _ck_ “Hidden Forums”. The features:

1) Forums/Topics can be hidden for a list of users and/or for all those users that have a particular role.

For example you can hide a staff private forum to all users except administrators or a sticky topic for all guests.

2) Forums/Topics can be locked for a list of users and/or for all those users that have a particular role. A locked forum doesn’t accept new topics. A locked topic doesn’t accept new posts/tags.

It is different from a “closed” topic which is locked for everyone. You can use this feature for a news list post.

3) You can specify super users and super roles that aren’t affected by previous rules.

A good choice is admin and administrators respectively.

4) You can specify custom prefixes for administrators if the forum/topic is hidden/locked.

It is useful to keep track of hidden posts.

5) You can specify replacement strings for the forms that aren’t shown on locked topics/forums.

Something like “sorry but you can’t write new topics”.

6) A fancy admin panel is included.

In the panel you have a list of all forums/topics that are affected by the plugin.

Actually I don’t think that my plugin is ready for a real site (but despite this I use it in a real site). I’m testing it in a sandbox but I need to cover cases in which there are thousand of posts.

The question is: are you interested on testing my work in a sandbox (if you have one)? If the answer is “yes” I can upload the beta on the SVN otherwise I will test it by myself a little more.

First of all I thank ppl behind bbPress for its easy extensibility. With little tweaks I was able to modify my forum to give it a nice look: http://geeksforgeeks.org/forum/

I can release it as a theme if needed.

I recently moved my hosting from US west hosting to European hosting. I.E. Next door rather than 1/3 way round planet on the far side of North America. I copied backups of the old databases to the new hosting.

Now I cannot get bbpress running now the old dns and hosting have been switched off.

I get error message “ERROR: Could not establish a database connection” I had wp and bb integrated and syncing. wp is working fine. I can use phpMyAdmin to read the database. BBPress will setup fine with a new database but its a bit of a pain to setup all the forums and synced topics and I’d lose the topics that were only in the bbpress forums.

Any help and advice welcomed.

How do I add a topic author to the topic list?

I want my topic list to have this information:

EG.

How do I exclude a category from the recent topics front page?

What I want is to have a ‘controversial’ category that users can post to but doesn’t show up on the front page listings of recent topics.

Consider it like a trash category.
