I have just installed the newest version of bbPress to test out. I’ve installed it as a subdomain under the main domain (WordPress). I want to use bbPress as a stand alone forum…not integrated with WordPress
The default theme does not work and in the appearance panel neither of the two default themes show their screenshots. I’ve checked and rechecked my folder & file permissions which are set to 755. I created a my-templates folder and moved a copy of kakumei to this folder from bb-templates. I’ve checked the permissions on these files, 755, and switched to the new theme/location with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
Seems like there is a whole lot of older information on this, but i can’t really find anything current. I keep landing on this plugin:
https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bbpress-latest-discussion-for-wp/
Curious if anyone is using it succesfully still. It hasn’t been updated in quite some time and user feedback is marginal at best and it’s littered with various work arounds and hacks… It’s not really a plug-and-play situation either… wanted a little feedback for a waste a bunch of time.
I maintain a website that has an install of bbPress 1.0.2. There haven’t really been any posts in about a year (just one or two updates from moderators).
Today I viewed the forum to see hundreds of Anonymous spam posts.
This confuses me, since I don’t have an Anonymous Posting plugin installed or enabled. Which makes me think somebody may have found a back door. I would like to close that door, but I have no idea where to start.
Thoughts?
basically what I’m asking is can I upload a WP theme to bbpress the normal way as I always have done using WP?
Thanks all!
Carl.
I am new to this and I am trying to integrate WordPress and bbPress, but I am having a few issues. How do I find out what the WordPress “auth” cookie key is, along with the WordPress “secure auth” cookie key, and WordPress “logged in” cookie key, including all of the “cookie salt.” Also, what should the user database table prefix be (right now it is wp_) and what is the WordPress MU primary blog ID? If someone could explain all of this to me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!
As of today my 2 month old bbPress installation is now showing posts in the wrong order. The most recently added or edited post shows at the top of the thread, while all the other posts are in the correct chronological order beneath.
Hi. I have uploaded via ftp into plugins folder but it doesn’t show up. Your instructions indicate to go to the url of the installation. Is bbpress for a sole wordpress site usage not just a plugin for forum within a site?
for some reason when i type the url of my website http://www.kingcountydogbiteattorney.com the the summary just shows up as a bunch of random numbers, why is this?
Hi,
Apologies, because i know there are lots of posts out there on the subject, but I am kind of new to bbpress, and I’m a little confused.
My client wants emoticons installed on his bbpress installation (1.02), but the only plugins I can find seem to work only up to around bbpress 0.9.
Even the forum topics discussing the need for emoticons and smilies seem to tail off around 2009. Weird.
Did emoticons get integrated into bbpress core around that time? If so, I can’t seem to find any options for it.
Did emoticons become so uncool people stopped using them?
Or is there a way to implement them into bbpress 1.02???
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be really grateful
