Change login url in user email

Published on November 11th, 2011 by surrealalien

Hi, I’d like to change the login url in the email that gets sent to a user when they register. The default is the wp-login.php but I dont like that, I’d like the user to go to another page where they can login, for example, example.com/login

I’ve looked around the files for where this might be, but cant find a thing.

Where is this email template set?

Custom Theme critical fault: Class 'BBP_Theme_Compat' not found…Whut!?

Published on November 11th, 2011 by WhiteRau

i’m adding bbPress to our WP blog, followed the instructions in the Theme Compatibility sticky and appended all the functions from bbPress/functions.php into myTheme/functions.php. as soon as i reloaded the page, i got a critical fault error. can’t find the required class. since i copied all the files across as instructed, shouldn’t the file be locatable? i’m not sure where to even begin with this. i thought integration would be relatively simple, i’m sure its something simple i’m overlooking.

please help me out so i can get cranking. i’ve already blown away the theme i built because i didn’t know bbPress’ cute little update ‘feature’, so i’m anxious to get back on track.

should mention, using latest of WordPress and bbPress.

thank you very much

I want to browse for apps

Published on November 11th, 2011 by alleny33

I want to browse for apps

Many “community” forums available on the internet have attempted to create a list of apps that are available for android tablets for sale but they all have on thing in common, poor execution. The list is unintuitive and uninteresting. A very bland list of apps with no description or screenshots-that’s not how I want to browse for apps. starzmart

topics are not ordered by last activity in bbPress 2.0

Published on November 10th, 2011 by GregKeen

I’ve upgraded to bbPress 2.0 from the BuddyPress forums.

Everything works fine except that the topic pages are not listing the topics in the order of last activity but instead in the same order as the wp-admin Topics page.

I couldn’t find any setting that would change this ordering and I’ve seen at various bbPress 2.0 forums that the ordering should work.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Clearly this plugin is not ready to be out of beta.

I have been working for about 8 hours straight and a bunch of hours in the previous last few days.

This just does not work.

Is there any way of showing how many times a topic has been favorited?

Published on November 10th, 2011 by janoochen

I wonder if bbpress stores the value of how many times a topic have been favorited in that way it could become a like button.

bbPress doing a lot of HEAD/GETs

Published on November 10th, 2011 by Steve

I’ve got a bbpress install which I run as support forum. I sometimes post links to zip files in there with patch fixes on them.

I was looking at my webstats and noticed :

a) A huge number of hits on my zip files

b) A huge increase in bandwith against my website from my own server

Checking my access logs I see:

So why is bbPress doing this? I did wonder if it was one of the plugins but surely they’d show as external IP addresses.

Adjusting Column Width/Table-Cell Width

Published on November 10th, 2011 by jellyjesus

This is what my current forum pages looks like.

I want to make the author column width much smaller.

How would I do this?

I’ve gone into bbpress.css and made every td, th, bbp-author-reply possible and put it width:20%, but to no avail.

I’ve tried tinkering with the style.css, but not entirely sure what to change there.

Would appreciate some help please.

unable to integrate with wordpress – 2 fields missing in bbpress hypelink etc

Published on November 9th, 2011 by tony webb

I am trying to integrate my forum into wordpress so that the forum shows on a page in my blog, there are 3 problems;

1. your set up documentation says that I need to cut and paste information from the following fields into your integration page; secure_auth and wordpress mu primary log ID. I can’t find them in document used in your hyperlink.

2. I have used a wordpress plug in to import my bbpress forum but there doesn’t seem to be a way to set up the widgets as they don’t show on a newly created page. They clash with wordpress set up as their widgets show on every page. They are not needed for the forum but the forums are and I can’t show them.

Also it seems that the only place to show my topics are in the wordpress blog margin as there is no facility to drag and drop the widget into the page content .

3. I have designed a forum in bbpress but the forums show tight to the right hand margin with the right hand end of the topic details cut off. There seems to be a hot tags widget preventing the topics from appearing in the centre of the page. How can I change the settings?

The install page doesn't work

Published on November 9th, 2011 by pieface

I uploaded bbPress 1.1 to my website.

Visited the bbPress directory which I called “forum”.

It redirected me to /forum/bb-admin/install.php.

Which said: “There doesn’t seem to be a bb-config.php file. This usually means that you want to install bbPress.”

When I click on “Go to step 1”, nothing happens – it just refreshes the page, and does not display the first step. There no error messages.

I am using PHP version 5.1.6

I don’t have word press installed.

Any Ideas?
