Forum index, breadcrumb, shortcode problem.

Published on February 13th, 2012 by Nicola

Trying to set up BBpress

I used the shortcode to create my own forum page at mysite.com/forum

However, once I go into the forum pages and topics it reverts back to the slugs that are in the bbpress settings.

I’m not sure what to do from here as I want to have my own forum page using the shortcode.

I tried to make my own bbpress.php file by copying the contents of my theme page.php file but I don’t really know what I’m doing or what that does..I read it might fix my problem

Help please!

Looking for an "application" plugin

Published on February 13th, 2012 by mirthen

Looking around at various BB options for my wordpress site. The main feature i will be needing is an “application” page. Where a user(with or without an account, prefer with) can fill in various fields and then when they submit this, it will get posted to a certain forum with all their answers, where the proper people can discuss the application and voice their opinion to approve to deny it. In essence a way for people to apply to the forums/site. like a job application posted to the forums, and managers can discuss the application.

Its important that it is a page that gets posted to the forums, and it needs to have custom fields.

It can either be a custom user sign up page, where it submits the new user request to the forums, or something separate after the user signs up an account.

anything like this exist for bbpress?

Plugin Instructions + One-click Registration Options

Published on February 13th, 2012 by dayshabass

Hi,

I am having a hard time navigating the forums as a lot of content no longer applies to v2, specifically plugin installation instructions.

Most instructions indicate I should be uploading to the BBPress directory and activating/managing in a BBPress Admin area, but I don’t see these options.

http://doommusic.net/forums

WP Version 3.3.1

BBPress Version 2.02

Can I still use the BB-specific plugins, but just upload directly to my wp-content/plug-ins directory for activation?

My current goal is to install some sort of one-click registration solution like Simple Facebook Connect and restrict participant access to the WP back-end. (Any recommendations would be appreciated)

Forum participants can just click, comment, and go.

Thanks for the help.

Hello.

I like the design and layout of bbpress.org very much – main page, fonts, forms, etc. :)

Does anyone know what the theme it is using?

Thanx in advance.

BBPM Fatal Error

Published on February 13th, 2012 by lmoon

Hello,

I am using bbpress 2.0.2 on the latest version of wordpress.

I have added in bbpm by uploading it to my wordpress plugin file through ftp. I can see it in my installed plugins under the wordpress dashboard, but when i try to activate it I get the following error:

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function bb_load_plugin_textdomain() in /home/lifeafte/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpm/bbpm.php on line 20”

I looked through the forum and found some suggestions of adding bbpm into a “my-plugins” folder under the bbpress folder, but I have done this, after creating the folder, but cannot see that one anywhere in my wordpress dashboard.

I would really appreciate some help.

Thank you.

Custom fields for user registration

Published on February 13th, 2012 by lmoon

Hello,

I am using bbpress 2.0.2 plugin on the latest version of wordpress.

Is it possible to add in custom fields, to add in postcodes for example, into the registration process for users of the forum?

I have looked through previous threads and feel they are all too old to answer this question for the new bbpress plugin.

Many thanks for your time and help with this.

How to add more fields to bbPress registration form

Published on February 13th, 2012 by wptanz

How can I add one or more extra fields to the registration form in bbpress 2.0.2?

I want to add a textarea where prospective users can write their reason for joining the forum.

Can bbpress handle these features?

Published on February 13th, 2012 by wptanz

I would like to know whether it is possible to do the following with bbPress:

Have a forum with two administrators who receive a weekly digest of all the the new activity for that work.

Normal users that would also be able to receive a weekly digest of all the new topics, without the need to subscribe to them.

During the subscribe process, the ability to add more fields, some optional and others mandatory, that would only be visible to the administrators of the forum.

Have the forum locked only to registered members, but have some topics that are available also to no registered users of the site.
