Version 2.1-rc4 topics getting mixed up

Published on July 8th, 2012 by Steve

I’ve installed 2.1-rc4 and its looking good but there is something a bit odd.

I’ve created a new subforum with one topic. When I go into the sub forum it shows that there is 1 topic in the sub forum but then goes and shows 15 topics (14 from other areas) with the last topic being the only actual topic in the forum.

This is very confusing and it would seem to be wrong.

…/?author=n -> …/?bbp_user=n

Published on July 8th, 2012 by Starejosel

Is there a way to make links that go to …/?author=n go to /?bbp_user=n instead?

Can I do it by editing a line of code such as:

$url = get_author_posts_url( $user->ID, $user->user_nicename );

or

‘.get_author_posts_url($u->ID).’

that I find in various plugins?

bbpress shows update information though I updated three times

Published on July 8th, 2012 by Thorsten :-)

Hi,

I updated within BuddyPress the bbpress plugin v2.0.3 to v2.1 for three times but your plugin says to update again – did you forget to update the version number?

Thanks for support, I use BB 3.4.1

A question about users

Published on July 8th, 2012 by douglerner

I was looking for some basic information about bbpress, its concepts and structure, etc. I couldn’t find anything in the docs, so if somebody could point me to something it would be great.

In the meanwhile, I have a basic question about users. Are the users regular wp users? Or are the bbpress users managed separately?

And what about email notifications for the users? Is that handled separately from other plugins which deal with email notifications and subscriber management? Is there a place to see who is subscribed to what?

Thanks,

doug

Right Now in Forums – where might I find it?

Published on July 8th, 2012 by douglerner

At https://codex.bbpress.org/getting-started-with-bbpress/ it says:

Upon activation, bbPress will make additions to three areas of the WordPress Administration Screens:

1. bbPress creates three custom post types and adds them to the navigation menu: Forums, Topics, and Replies. Use these menu items to create and manage your forums.

2. A sub-menu found at Settings > Forum. Customize these settings for greater control over bbPress.

3. A dashboard widget – Right Now in Forums – which shows recent bbPress-related activity. Use the widget to quickly monitor your forums.

I see items 1 and 2. But where might I find item 3? I don’t see it in my dashboard anywhere. I do see a few bbpress-related widgets available though.

Thanks for any pointers here.

Just a white page after installation – anything I can do?

Published on July 8th, 2012 by douglerner

Well, it’s not quite that simple.

I installed bbpress and was pleased that it worked well with my Weaver II theme. Then I felt I wanted more of a “social network” so installed buddypress on top of that. Then I realized bbpress was included with buddypress, so I uninstalled them both and just installed buddypress. I was finding buddypress to be a bit confusing – not to mention slow – and it didn’t work well with my Weaver theme, so I uninstalled it and installed just bbpress again.

When I was done, I was left with just a white page when visiting my site.

I’m guess there are some things left in my database from the previous installation pointing to some page or something which no longer exists?

I uninstalled bbpress for now and can see my site with the Weaver II theme again. But anything I can do to get bbpress working again?

Thanks,

doug

Non-functional index page when bbpress 2.1RC4 is used with WooThemes Canvas 5.05

Published on July 7th, 2012 by hlwinkler

Hello,

I have a slightly odd issue — with both Woothemes Canvas 5.05 on and bbpress 2.1 RC4, my forum index page is displayed as a blog archive loop of excerpts (with just one excerpt):

http://www.politepix.com/forums/

There is no page or post that corresponds to this “forums” URL for me to change. How can I get this displaying as a real forum index instead of a loop of excerpts?

Thanks!

Avatar's bleeding over the response height

Published on July 7th, 2012 by ril3y

Hello,

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I having issues with finding “where” and “what” I need to be editing to fix my sites avatars from bleeding over the reply height.

I know this sounds hard to understand but here is a link to the issue at hand. You will see at the smaller responses that the avatars are too big or the grey background of the responses are too small depending on how you look at it :)

Here is the link:

One other side thing.. How do you remove the “tabbed” avatar responses? It makes it hard to read IMO.

Thanks for any help!

Suggestion: Add moderators

Published on July 7th, 2012 by The800

May i suggest that bbpress.org add a few moderators to the forum. Everytime i have visited this site lately, it has been a jungle of spam on the front page, instead of relevant topics.
