bbPress & Sidebar Login plugin – formatting issue

Published on August 14th, 2012 by jcolinger3

I installed the Sidebar Login Version 2.4 plugin… activated. Then I installed bbPress and activated/configure.

I don’t really need the Sidebar Plugin, and it appears that the bbPress doesn’t use a sidebar. So I tried to de-activate it, but when I do, I receive an error when trying to get to the forums.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function sidebarlogin() in /home/content/97/9743097/html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/page.php on line 16

UPDATE: I figured it out. When deactivating, the is not automatically removed.

Maybe this will help someone.

Really, really odd behavior with sticky posts

Published on August 14th, 2012 by grex22

I’m having quite a weird bug appear on me with bbPress, and wanted to see if anyone had anything similar occur to them.

So, I have a forum with 4 sticky topics. Every week or so, we’ll get one of those topics just vanish from the top of the front page (the ‘sticky’ position). This has happened so often that we’ve adopted a term for it — the topic has “gone rogue”.

The weird thing is that the topic still shows up in the forum, just way further down in it’s chronological place. It’s still styled as a sticky topic, with the different background and all, it’s just not in the right spot.

Furthermore, when viewing the ‘rogue’ topic in admin, it shows up as a Draft, “Pending Review”. Re-publishing the topic fixes the problem and puts the post back to the top of the page, but I’d obviously like to get this ironed out before the forum grows further.

It’s like somehow a sticky topic (even closed ones) just decide to switch to a draft which drops them out of the sticky position..

Anyone seen this before, or can offer any insight?

bbPress and HTML5 Theme!?!?

Published on August 14th, 2012 by mooapo

Hello!

I am using the HTML5 Reset Blank Theme. I am creating a WordPress Theme from scratch….

I have two issues:
1). Can I use bbPress with an HTML5 theme?

2). After I active it, I really get lost from that point. Can anyone please tell me what the next step is? Because I am lost. When I do go to All Pages, I see at the bottum the name of the forum I had created. But do I do with it? I am lost.

is it possible for me to recreate the forums?

I see you have functions and what not and already specified ways of calling the forum data from the database into specified ways of displaying the topic and the replies or the forum and its topics. The question is, is there enough api in the core bbpress for me to say, instead of laying out the forums this way I am going to re-write them from the ground up and display them my way.

or would you recommend just using css to make my changes?

Show only Super Sticky or Sticky posts Above forum list

Published on August 13th, 2012 by

I would like to be able to show Super Sticky or Sticky posts above the forum posts. In other words. I’ll have posts on the page and the super/sticky posts will be there. However, above the lists of the posts, I would like to have the super/sticky posts there as well. Sort of like a “Featured Discussions” type section.

Weird glitch with bbpress widget

Published on August 13th, 2012 by mike05

So um…. What’s up with this?

Im using the bbpress widget in wordpress, and when certain pages do not have a listing on them, “phantom page links” appear from out of nowhere. I have the widget placed in the center section of the footer.

Does anyone know what’s going on?

Fatal error installing bbPress

Published on August 13th, 2012 by katepaneros

I get the following error when installing the bbPress plugin for site-wide forums under BuddyPress.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 616352 bytes) in /home/birthpho/public_html/web/wp-admin/includes/admin.php on line 29

What could be the cause of this? I have plenty of hosting space available, does this require memory elsewhere?
