Topic subscription on by default (can I turn it off by default?)

Published on August 26th, 2013 by janhoos

Hey guys!

I’ve got the option to subscribe to topics on, but I dislike the fact that its already checked for every topic. So if a user is not paying attention, hes going to get a lot of e-mails.

I’d much rather have it off by default and let the user click the subscribe box if he wishes to subscribe to a topic.

Can I turn it off in a php file somewhere? I’ve looked around but could not find it. I was wondering if someone else ran in to the same “problem”.

Make BP Better Directories better!

Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/ plugin is fantastic. It adds field types date, email, number etc.

Would be great if BP Better Directories allows searches for (e.g.):
– age less than/more than/between (when there is a birthdate field)
– height less than/more than/between (when there is a number field)
– years of experience less than/more than/between (when there is a number field)

Please, please, pretty please 🙂

Avatars and username strangness only in forum replies

Published on August 26th, 2013 by Volvon

Hello,

I am having an issue with the forum. The original posts are fine, but any replies made to the OP and the avatar is small, and misaligned along with the username not being formatted correctly either.

See for yourself here: http://www.amazing-auroras.eu/forums/topic/moved-reply-to-hi/

I use WP User Avatar, but I de-activated it, deleted it, de-activated BBP, all made zero difference, so I am not sure it is related, especially as the original post in forums displays everything correctly, it is only replies that have the issue.

I have searched through this support forum for days without finding a fix.

I have also gone through most code that I think might affect it but have not found anything.

I cannot find the code that says the avatar should be smaller in replies, is this normal for BBP or is my theme making this happen?

So any ideas even if you can tell me if it is a theme issue, BBP issue, or whatever. I am totally at a loss where to look now.

I would like forum listed under the "Latest Topic"

Published on August 25th, 2013 by lilmsjenn

Hi – I have the bbPress “Recent Topics” widget on the homepage of the site that I am working on (http://heattreatforum.flyten.net/). I want the parent forum that the topic was entered in to show up below the topic in this widget. How can I make this happen?

The version of WP I’m working with is 3.6, the bbpress verions is 2.3.2

Any help would be appreciated – thanks!

Gravatar

I want to have users host their avatar at Gravatar. How do I link to my avatar there via my line of code? I did an md5 hash for my avatar to test. Which plugin do I use to link that line of code?

Resizing Forum Table Cell Widths to Fit Content

Published on August 25th, 2013 by najum

I am having trouble trying to resize my forums table cells widths.

The “topics” and “posts” cells that only contain a number don’t need to be the same width as the “forum” and “freshness” cells that contain words and wrap to the next line.

When I look at the table through firebug I just see “.article th, .article td” which is part of my sytle.css and not bbpress.

Any ideas how I can make the cells widths change?

Here is an example of 1 forum I am talking about http://lifeafterlondon.com/forums-2/

Many thanks

Hi, i am getting this error message on my site backend. I have created a custom bbpress child theme. The error is “bbp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly. The current user is being initialized without using $wp->init(). (This message was added in version 2.3.) in /hermes/bosoraweb132/b1582/ipg.virtualweb/https/blog/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3012”

Forum Page Layout

Published on August 25th, 2013 by Scott Tyner

I would like the pages for the forums to NOT have a sidebar and to fill up the page (and sidebar area). There’s not sidebar showing, but the area is white space. I want the forum pages to fill up the entire page. Did that make sense?

I am using Version 2.3.2 bbPress and WordPress version is 3.6
