Entire forum 404's – tried everything!!!

Published on January 13th, 2014 by Zoee

Hi all, I have a members only forum on a clients site that is protected by s2Member so only level #1 members can access all /forms/forum pages. The client reported yesterday that their forum wasn’t working – all pages got to our custom 404 page.

They upgraded there website to 3.8 last week – usually we run there updates, I don’t think they checked the forum after running the update so I don’t know if the update caused the issue or not. Likewise they didn’t take a full site backup as instructed when doing updates.

When I switch off permalinks the pages work (though the forum overview /forums/ doesn’t). I’ve tried:
– resaving the permalinks (switching off, back on etc in various different combos)
– deleting the .htaccess and resaving permalinks
– uploading an old .htaccess
– reinstalling wordpress 3.8
– deactivating all other plugins
– switching to a default theme

I really don’t want to have to move them to a fresh install, the site is massive. Likewise I don’t think reverting to an older version of WordPress is really a solution.

Any more suggestions of what to try would be appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!

Alt install when not working with theme?

Published on January 13th, 2014 by hipp

Hi,

I have spent the better part of two days attempting to install bbPress on my site. I have come to learn that it’s my theme. While I do not want to abandon my theme, I do want to use bbPress. I have a few questions.

I can set up a subdomain. Is it possible to set up bbPress this way AND not require my users to set up a separate login? I have read something about Multi-site and have read that having multiple sites with the same login can be difficult. Is there an easier way?

I suppose I’d like to know if I do install bbPress on a subdomain is there a plugin that you’d recommend that would bridge my users login info to this installation from the main site.

Thank you in advance for any assistance,

Mike

Mobile Theme?

Published on January 13th, 2014 by rickey29

Hello,

Is there a mobile-friendly bbPress theme? If not, is it a good idea if I develop one?

I check this support forum with keyword “mobile theme”. Someone ask the same question, the answer is no. If I miss a solution, please let me know. I also Google “mobile bbPress theme” and read the first three pages carefully. There are some good discussion and even achievement, but these topics are not active anymore for three years.

My target is, for example, for the next three websites:
http://mophpbb3.flexplat.com/
http://mosmf2.flexplat.com/
http://momybb.flexplat.com/
When you visit from (1) desktop web browser or (2) mobile web browser, the result are completely different — I will make the same theme for bbPress.

If you need a mobile theme, please reply this thread, so I can make sure this work is necessary.

Any comments are welcome.

Custom Query to display sticky posts only

Published on January 13th, 2014 by DarraghDevEire

Hi, I’m looking for a solution to display a list of sticky posts. I currently have a list of all recent topics displaying -> http://kohler.surefiresocial.com/featured-articles/ but I want to restrict this to just sticky posts. I am using the short-code

  • Oh, bother! No topics were found here.
to display the topic index.

Basically, I am stuck as to should i modify and create a short-code or drop in a custom query? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

WP Version – 3.8
BBPress Version – 2.5.1
URL – http://kohler.surefiresocial.com/featured-articles/

Where is the code for the bbpress widgets?

Published on January 13th, 2014 by wiste

In which file(s)/locations can I find the code for the built in bbpress widgets? Most specifically I’m looking for the recent topics widget. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’ve never needed to modify a widget before now and my searches have turned up nothing.

I am wanting to make my own version that will allow it to recursively check sub forums of the specified parent forum as well so a category can be specified instead of just a single forum.

Thanks!

Help with Post Content Div Edting

Published on January 12th, 2014 by nzguyyy

I am new to CSS and trying to change the formatting of my post-content div. My forum home page, and topic pages look okay but the margin in my post content page isn’t quite right. I can fix it by inspecting element and performing the change below, but then it reverts to being broke again.

I change it to this:

#bbpress-forums .post-content p {
margin: 0px 0px 0px !important;
display: block;
}

but then it reverts to this:

#bbpress-forums .post-content p {
margin: 0px 0px 20px;
display: block;
}

Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Forum is here:

Bbpress STATS Horizontally?

Published on January 12th, 2014 by WPDragon

Hi..I assume this is a CSS thing, but can someone please help with.

I’m trying to get my Forum to look as close as possible as the current popular Forums today…one thing I wanna add is the Stats at the bottom of the page..for example:

WHO IS ONLINE?
In total there are 115 users online :: 35 registered, 0 hidden and 80 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

If someone can assist with what line of code I need to use to make the STATS Horizontal across the bottom, rather than Vertical – I would appreciate it!

Thank you!

Enabling Threaded Replies Breaks odd / even class

Enabling threaded replies returns the ‘even’ class for all topic replies which breaks the zebra formatting. Is this a “feature”?

The “Replies” button on admin left side will not open “All Replies”, only “New Reply”.
