404 if post title starts with letters "Se"

Published on March 26th, 2014 by HywelPhillips

Hi All,

I have the weirdest error. I have a WordPress 3.8.1 installation with Akismet 2.6.0, bbPress 2.5.3 and a couple of other plugins.

It has been running fine for a year or so. We recently moved server, and did a “point” version update to latest versions.

Today I found a problem I’ve not seen before: if one posts a forum post whose titles start with the letters “Se”, you get a 404 error when viewing the post. The post itself shows up in the forum listing and is editable with correct text but won’t show up when you click on the link in the forum listing.

Post title variants like “Secretary”, “Secretary Test” “Sec” all generate the error. A post with title “Sacretary” does not, nor do any other posts test titles I’ve tried.

Has anyone got the faintest idea what could be going on here?

Cheers, Hywel Phillips

Login/Register Widget

Published on March 26th, 2014 by thepcjournal

I am very excited to start using this for my organization. On my forum page I selected the login widget to show on the sidebar widget area along with a few other widgets. But they only show when Im already logged-in. I’m not sure what setting I’m missing, but I need people to be able to register when they first log-on. WordPress 3.8.1, bbPress 2.5.3, http://northwestleadership.org/forums/

Imported from SimplePress, not all members are Participants

Published on March 26th, 2014 by Sho-Down

I have 79,280 members on my website. I imported from SimplePress forum (that worked ok) but only 19,000 members were labeled Participant. I ran ‘Remap existing users to default forum roles’ and after a while the page went white/blank. I went back to admin and it indeed worked a little bit because the Participants jumped to 37,486. Tried to remap again and the page went white/blank but this time no more members were added to Participants.

Will this work itself out once members log into my website or I’m gonna have to manually change the roles? I use a separate log in/register plugin to handle log in so will they automatically be a Participant in the forum if they log in to my website?

re: bbPress and BuddyPress

Published on March 26th, 2014 by batmanfan

new to this, still reading…. read this https://codex.bbpress.org/using-bbpress-forums-with-buddypress-group-forums/
can someone advise/confirm what’s the advantage of using BuddyPress “Group Forums” over the “forums” slug in bbPress?

Also, I don’t quite follow this instruction…
5. After creating a new page (Eg: “Group Forums”), go into Settings/BuddyPress/Pages and choose this new page to act as the placeholder for BuddyPress Group Forums
I could see Settings/BuddyPress/Pages and it has 2 option Directories and Registration yeah? what do I do from here? Thanks.

addReply.moveForm not working

Published on March 26th, 2014 by imjscn

if not threaded, clicking the bbp-reply-to-link can get #new-post form focused.
But, when threaded, the onClick function seems not working. Instead of moving or creating the post form, it reload the page and add query vars.
I’m with bbpress2.5.3, and wordpress 3.8.1
