Permalinks Without Postname

Published on October 27th, 2014 by emrphy

I’m trying to set up bbPress, but I’m not using the postname permalinks (for SEO reasons), which is causing problems. So I tried setting it up using Method 2 in the setup guide, which is basically just setting up a page with

on it. That works, but now none of the non-index forum pages work. Just 404 pages.

What should the Forum Root Slug and Single Forum Slugs be? I’m thinking that may be the problem. I’ve been messing around with them but haven’t been able to fix them yet. Thanks for any help!

direct link to members forum

Published on October 27th, 2014 by Sherry22

I have forums and groups. My groups have the appropriate forums (from drop down) selected.
I want a button so that users can click directly to their group forum but I can’t seem to figure this out.

I can see a list of the forums http://www.mysite.com/groups/
but I have to manually click on the group name and don’t want users to have to do this.
I want them to click on post button and link directly to their forum topics.

Is this possible?

bbPress Development

Published on October 26th, 2014 by Stephen Edgar

The bbPress project along with BuddyPress and WordPress is testing out Slack as our main real-time communication platform, replacing IRC chats for developer related discussions.

If you are a current contributor to bbPress or would like to start contributing and help with the development of bbPress then this is the place to come and have a chat.

A brief summary is here: https://codex.bbpress.org/participate-and-contribute/

Full setup details and how to request an invite to link your WordPress.org account with a Slack.com account are here:
https://chat.wordpress.org/ https://wordpress.slack.com/apps

Note: This is a not a new support channel or forum for bbPress support.

setting permissions on forum within a group

Published on October 26th, 2014 by Sherry22

I am trying to build a site. Currently I have forums turned on and I can link to them to view topics and post topics.
I am trying to link up my buddypress groups with the forums (permission and all)
so that when a person clicks on forums they only see the topics associated with their group. How do I set this permission? I have been spending way too much time on this.

Clarify
Group a – Forum a and Group b- Forum b
ex. when a person registered they are auto added to Group a I only want to show this new member activity from Group a and Topics from Forum a.

I need to set permissions on the groups I think not the “role” as each new member could have the same role. HELP PLEASE

Topics and Posts don't change after deleting posts

Published on October 26th, 2014 by kendorama

I was doing some testing on forums with test posts. After I deleted them all from the admin panel and used the repair tool within WordPress it shows that there are “No Topics” in all the forums but the old forum topic/posts counts are still there. I tried clearing cache everywhere including browsers but the Topics/Post counts in the columns still exist even though there’s nothing inside the forum.
