    I turned off the Facebook plugin for now because that popup was too annoying and people were starting to complain.

    By the way man, thanks for the help. If I can throw you a few bucks for the trouble let me know!

    alright, side question. It looks like this Adam Hupp plugin puts a totally annoying popup thing in the upper right corner of all pages.

    1) Is there any way to get rid of that, because I really don’t want that getting in the way of the site.

    2) THe popup is not appearing on the forum pages, ONLY on the blog pages, so maybe that’s a sign of something wrong?

    okay right, thanks!

    Looks like I had a different FB connect plugin running (JAvier Reyes’)

    I installed the Adam Hupp one called WP-FacebookConnect and activated it with API/Secret in place. Still no luck on that page:

    One idea – I have Disqus running on the main blog for comments. It seems to override the facebook connection there. Could it be screwing it up elsewhere too?

    okay … thanks for all the help! So, I did that. I added the facebook code exactly as you suggested to “login-form.php”

    and nothing shows up at all… what’s supposed to happen? What could I be missing?

    Okay, excellent, I’ll try that tonight. So… should I get rid of those lines that I added? I don’t want to have a lot of extra code in there if I don’t need it.

    okay great, thanks man.

    So, I added this code to the bb-config.php file from your page here:

    Deep integration of bbPress with WordPress

    I did, however, already have the following added:

    require_once('/MYPATH/wp-blog-header.php');

    does the latter mean I was already in “deep integration” ?

    Either way, I don’t see any differences at all now as opposed to before. What does it mean to “integrate a FB button” … is there some code lying around that I can just stick into the templates?

    thanks

    thanks! so.. what’s the line look like? Someone else set this up, so I can check, but don’t know what i’m looking for

    Interesting… so assuming my templates were default… where would I look for the code to add this? I can get in there and add it if I knew what it looked like.

    Right… so how do I know if my set up is “deep integration” or not? And if it’s not, then there’s no way to use FB Connect?

    So… anyone got a clue what might be missing here? Here’s the test forum – http://www.triplepundit.com/forum … I suspect I’m missing something in one of the templates?

    Excellent, thanks!!!

    Thanks! so… a bit short on documentation there. I installed.. it seems to be installed correctly (at least it says that it is) but I see no new options in the user panel…. what do i need to do to the template to create a place for users to upload and manage avatars?

    So.. i guess this is a bump. How do i do the last step? “integrate a facebook connect button”? What’s the code for that? Do I just slap it onto my bbpress template?

    thanks guys, that works great!

    Ah – that’s a cool idea. So…. basically I’d just have to add some new CSS rules each time I wanted to highlight someone new? Seems like a risky way to do it given any upgrade or migration I might need to do in the future no?

    @nickaster

    Here’s a crazy question. Whatever bbpress evolves into, will migration to something new, like what you’re building, be a crazy nightmare?

    Has anyone tried to get disqus to work with something like this? That would be an interesting integration!

    @nickaster

    Woah. This really works? By “integrate a fb-connect button on your bbpress site” what do you really mean? Just stick it in the template someplace? What if I’m already logged in from elsewhere? Will it keep my login?

    @nickaster

    YES!!! Adding this to the .htaccess file does indeed work:

    php_value magic_quotes_gpc 1

    I’m worried that now I’m down a rabbit hole in terms of future upgrades and so on. But what can you do…

    @nickaster

    Well this is interesting. From the perspective of someone with one blog, I guess I’m not too bothered by the idea of this becoming a plugin, but it sounds like a potential nightmare for someone who’s already put some effort into customizing a theme and a lot of features of the bbpress.

    This looks hugely useful…. but two ideas to make it more useful:

    1) If it’s based on RSS, you could conceivably pull other blogs in.

    2) It would be cool to have a switch where an admin could choose to pull posts in or not, based on categories or something like that

    3) Some way to let people know that a discussion has been spawned in the forum indicated on the original post…

    There’s some kind of odd redirect thing going on… I get sent to a longer url:

    http://www.londonmuscle.com/blog/forum/bb-login.php?re=/blog/forum/bb-admin/

    I dunno what that might mean, but could be some clue to the problem in there…

    Howdy… yeah, latest version of bbpress – 1.0.2 Plugin deactivation does nothing to either old or new posts (posting with all deactivated still brings me the / problem).
