In reply to: is bbpress compatible with jaws
We aim to make bbPress bbPress as accessible as possible, if some #a11y feature doesn’t work as expected let us know and we’ll work it resolving it 🙂
In reply to: Delete accountIn a nutshell you cannot, it is shared with your wordpress.org account
In reply to: Tagging/mentions don’t go to the forum postHmmm… This might even be a BuddyPress issue, or rather how bbPress and BuddyPress integrate mentions, @lovechard what happens when you click on your @lovechard mention here?
In reply to: Migrate Kunena to bbpressI didn’t know Kunena 4 had been released, will try to take a look at copying the Kunena 3 importer and updating it for Kunena 4 when I get some time to spare.
In reply to: Requesting access to edit bbPress documentationExcellent, thanks for helping out 🙂
In reply to: Requesting access to edit bbPress documentationActually, it looks like it has worked, signing in per the link I just posted should work
In reply to: Requesting access to edit bbPress documentationHmmmm….
Could you try logging into https://codex.bbpress.org/wp-login.php before opening the email link, see if that works please?
In reply to: Requesting access to edit bbPress documentationApologies @vinod-dalvi, I’ve sent an invite via email for editor access
In reply to: Spam Forum PostsGreat tip @kriskl, also I’d suggest maybe adding the Akismet plugin
In reply to: bbPress 2.6 Release Candidate 3@kriskl, we’ve not tagged an RC4 release, we probably should, stay tuned 🙂
I see you found the correct forum for the bbp-messages plugin 🙂
So, yeah, not a bbPress issue 🙂

In reply to: bbPress 2.6 Release Candidate 3@peterwsterling Can you add a copy of the exact code you’re using please?
In reply to: Restrict access to media files that belong to topicMaybe BuddyPress can do this, it can for sure created groups for you and group forums for those groups, as to attachments in those topics I’m not sure what plugins are out there for this but I’d expect any attachment plugin that works with groups of users and bbPress topics should protect those attachments from unauthorised viewing.
I think you should contact the plugin author of the plugin you are using now to facilitate this functionality, I’m quite sure they’ll be grateful for being informed that there plugin is not working as expected, you might even get lucky and the author fixes the plugin so it does protect those attachments 🙂
In reply to: Restrict access to media files that belong to topicI’ve no idea what that plugin is, I suspect however though that this will be an issue with that plugin, if that plugin is “leaking” sensitive information from within a “protected” topic that this plugin “protects” from Google then this will be an issue for that plugin and not bbPress.
In reply to: Restrict access to media files that belong to topicbbPress doesn’t include any “groups” functionality out of the box, groups functionality is typically added by way of plugins of which BuddyPress is one such plugin.
So are you using a plugin to add “groups” functionality to bbPress, if so which one?
If not, could you explain how you are grouping and how you are protecting those topics from Google in the first place please.
In reply to: Maximum number of subforums? (displayed)For sure there will be issues for sure with bbPress and ~2000 forums, it wasn’t designed for this many forums, it’s also more often than not not a good idea to have this many forums.
Categorising the forums into a more hierarchical layout is usually far more friendly for admins, mods, and users. For example break down the UK to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, then further break them down, under Scotland you’d have Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway and so on….
In reply to: Restrict access to media files that belong to topicThis I’m guessing this is when using BuddyPress?
If so this should be asked on https://buddypress.org/support
In reply to: Is there an API for bbPressGreat idea, @tkserver you can sign up for the WordPress development Slack here:
In reply to: Creating Multisite core forum network accessibleThere are plugins that can share content across sites.
*But* I still don’t think in the scenario you’ve outlined that multisite is the answer, using one of the membership plugins should be able to “fence off” the content to different “user groups” on a single WordPress site.
In reply to: Creating Multisite core forum network accessibleYou can’t do that, that would be “content sharing across sites” which is one of the things Mika points out in the video.
In reply to: Topic Tags autocompleteIf you edit a topic in the backend if you start typing topic tags in the meta box you’ll see autocomplete in action, it’s just not enabled on the front end, with large scale forums autocompletion will have scaling issues
In reply to: Posting form not working on interner explorerI’ve removed the username and password from your post @torpeyisgod
Giving others access to your site rarely helps solve any issue, at best it would show that someone else can confirm the issue you have but will still be unable to resolve it 🙂
It looks like there is no form at http://www.iron-bru.co.uk/login/ (Using Chrome)
I’d suggest quickly switching your theme to one of the Twenty themes, Twenty Fifteen for example and seeing if you can login with IE then, if not switch your theme back.
If not resolved deactivate all your plugins and try logging in again, then activate each plugin one by one until you find the conflicting plugin.
In reply to: Creating Multisite core forum network accessibleI didnt know there was a multisite plugin for bbpress, ill have to check into that.
Not a plugin, multisite compatibility is built into bbPress, you don’t need any other plugins for multisite compat 🙂
In reply to: Creating Multisite core forum network accessibleAs Mika points out sharing content or menus across sites is problematic at best
I think taking a look at a few of the many resources on “memberships plugins” here:
* http://chrislema.com/memberships-plugins/There’s some good round ups of how these plugins work in restricting access to content…
FWIW, bbPress is 100% multisite compatible, either activated per site, or site wide as a “mu-plugin”, it’s just not for the faint of heart, so if you want to take a stab at using multisite then have at it and see if it can work the way you envisage 🙂
In reply to: Creating Multisite core forum network accessibleI think attempting to use multisite in this instance is over complicating things…
Take a look at this video on one of WordPress’ multisite experts 🙂
Using one of the “membership” (Members, S2, Restrict Content Pro, Users, etc etc) type plugins along with groups would be the way to go I think.
