In reply to: Totally Lost! – WP & bbPress
I did have a “forums” in trash, I deleted it but it’s still linking to /forum-2. Any idea how to “refresh it”?
Try changing your permalinks, click save, change them back and save again and that should flush them.
Ah I get the – being added, I was more concerned with the forums/forum/ part of the link, instead of just /forums/.
That is the default bbPress structure, you can turn off the ‘forums prefix’ in settings and you would end up with /forum/general-discussion/
In reply to: ‘Content Not Found’ error after installationNo we are all good… I removed the stuff regarding the links as this is working correctly.
Try creating a new WordPress page and add the bbPress shortcode [bbp-forum-index] to the page.
In reply to: How do I Generate a Sitemap for My bbPress Forum?I have not tried this plugin and it hasn’t been updated in a while but it states it supports the bbPress plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-html-sitemap/
In reply to: BBpress forum page in BuddyPress.Try disabling all your other plugins as it looks like one of them is causing a conflict and get bbPress doing what you want it to do with correct menu items etc then enable your plugins one by one and check to see if bbPress works as it was to find the conflicting plugin.
In reply to: Totally Lost! – WP & bbPressThat seemed to have worked ok, I no longer get the .htaccess error.
That will indeed help now that you have a .htaccess file for permalinks and the most common permalink format is ‘Post name’ which it appears you are now using.
Also, when I create a page and add the shortcode to it, it creates the tab for me, but it links to /forum-2, not forums. If I change the permalink, it just changes it back.
Make sure you don’t have a deleted page named ‘forums’ in your trash.
Also, when I view the forum via the “View” link in Dashboard>Forums it takes me to /forums/forum/general-discussion/, not forums/generaldiscussion.
WordPress removes any ‘whitespace’ from the names and replaces them with a hyphen, URL’s may not contain spaces.
In reply to: Different avatar sizesIt looks like maybe an avatar plugin is causing all your avatars size to be overridden, try disabling your other plugins and re-enable them one by one to find the offender.
Note: Apologies, your post had been marked as spam for the past weeks :/

In reply to: URLs issueI would suggest you have a search at here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/phpbb
There are some great mod_rewrite FAQ’s and phpBB examples.

You would need to find a WordPress plugin that includes avatar support for bbPress
In reply to: Removing bbPress roles after uninstallationIn reply to: Uninstalled bbPress but roles remainIn reply to: BBpress forum page in BuddyPress. In reply to: Post-import cleanup help neededWhen you do an import if the user already exists eg. @TrishaM the importer will create a new user named @Imported_TrishaM.
Once the import is finished when you go to delete the user @Imported_TrishaM you have the option to delete the users created content or attribute them to another user, in this case you would select @TrishaM and the end result is everything is attributed to the user @TrishaM.
Usding the method above by ‘not deleting’ for example your blog authors would work well for your situation in regard to these users.
Everything is a kind of trade off in the end of how much to do manually versus automated :/
In reply to: Voting on user-submitted postsThere are a few that support bbPress, just add ‘bbPress’ to your search criteria at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
In reply to: [GD BBpress tools] Quoting feature not working@palmdoc I would suggest you ask that same question in their support forums https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/gd-bbpress-tools

In reply to: Category forum linked to BuddyPress groupIs it possible to link a bbPress category forum to a BuddyPress group?
No, not at this stage but if I remember correctly there might be some bits included with bbPress 2.3 that do not stop you from doing using categories with BuddyPress groups.
I can’t seem to find the post that had some details about what these changes were but download bbPress 2.3 and have a look https://bbpress.org/blog/2013/03/bbpress-2-3-release-candidate-1/
If nothing changes and it still behaves the same I was probably dreaming and we will look into this for a future version 😉
In reply to: User profiles not displayingThat looks like a BuddyPress user profile URL…
In reply to: Totally Lost! – WP & bbPressTry all the things you above using the Twenty Eleven theme included with bbPress…
- Change your permalinks and visit http://example.com/forums
- Add a menu item pointing to http://example.com/forums
- Create a new WordPress page and add the [bbp-forum-index] shortcode to it
Once you are happy that you have everything working with the Twenty Eleven theme as you expect it should then switch back to your custom theme and if needed contact the theme author asking why the theme doesn’t support xyz…
In reply to: ‘Content Not Found’ error after installationI have tried http://vegansociety.co.il/forums and I see the error but I also see your current menu item ‘forums’ links to here.
I am not sure how the Hebrew in the URL’s works in regards to WordPress & bbPress as I personally have not gone done this path before.
What happens if you create a new WordPress page and add the bbPress shortcode [bbp-forum-index]
Also apologies, your post had been marked as spam for the past week :/

In reply to: Empty topic title box = post text disappears? This is fixed in bbPress 2.3
In reply to: bbPress alertsCurrently this is not possible but it is a great idea that maybe one of the “bbPress Unread Posts’ plugins could add this functionality.

In reply to: E-mail notifications för unregistered user? Not currently… Logic behind this is if they are happy to give their email address then why not just be a member of the site.
