In reply to: mysql database, use new or existing?Yup, you can use the same database as your current wordpress install – in fact, you have to in order to integrate the user data:
https://bbpress.org/documentation/integration-with-wordpress/
“bbPress can share user data with an existing WordPress installation. All you need to do is specify the location of that database on installation or afterwards in the “WordPress Integration” section of the “Settings” area in your bbPress admin.”

I’m using it to power a traditional chinese forum, and it’s working great!
In reply to: Forum permissionsI believe this plugin should cover that situation?
In reply to: Forum permissionsThere’s a forum permissions plugin here – I’ve used it on a number of bbPress installs, and it is really great!
bbPress is not a forum plugin for WordPress; it’s its own separate program.
What are the basic features of a forum you’d like to see? Let us know, and we can help steer you in the right direction!
In reply to: a DOH! question from an InDUHvidualbbPress is its own standalone program, similar to how WordPress is its own standalone program. It’s definitely not just a plugin to WordPress… although there are a few WP plugin forum plugins! Sounds like you’re already playing around with one of them.

In reply to: bbRating FF issueIt’s hard to say without seeing the page itself…
In reply to: BBPagesThe instructions say:
Q: How do I create a link to my page?
A: Notice the ID number of your page, then use the following “syntax”: http://domain.com/page.php?page_id=X, where ‘X’ is your page ID.
Try that link for your site?
In reply to: bbRating FF issueIt sounds like a CSS issue. Could you post a link to a page with bbRatings installed, so we could all take a look?
In reply to: BBPagesThere are some extra steps in the Installation ssection, beyond just putting it in the plugins folder:
https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bbpages/installation/
Try them out and see if that does the trick? Good luck!
Which plugin is it? And have any other plugins or changes been made in the past four days?
In reply to: Are these users spambots? There is a plugin available that lets you delete users:
In reply to: Are these users spambots? If you’re worried about deleting them, you can always just edit the users so that they are Blocked… that will prevent them from posting again in the future.
Even if the users don’t post, if they have a URL in their profile… they help the Google PageRank of that URL. So maybe that’s the nefarious goal here… you could always zero out all the profile fields, including the url.
In reply to: Are these users spambots?Sounds like it!!
Try this plugin by ck… it really helps cut down on spambot registrations:
In reply to: Hire someone to build me a bbpress theme? You can post your contact info here (email)… or contact some of the professional listed here:
