In reply to: New Theme For BBPresshey arpowers, i must say, i LOVE your themes, they really look awesome.
i’d love to use the stationpro for my own site, but first i need to get the whole wp + bb thingy working properly…
i do have a tip for you. i see many designers choose white (#fff) for the font color on a black background. i must say that that’s not really a wise choice. white font color on black background –> it kills your eyes.
im also running a site which has the black background, i choose for #bbb which is a bit less sharp and doesn’t hurt the eyes too much.
In reply to: 1.1 feature pollGuys,
I’m really happy there is a thread like this. I voted ‘integration with WordPress’ but honestly, there are a LOT OF THINGS I wished, were by default.
When I switched from SMF to bbPress, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. The reason I switched was, because SMF is using this license that you can’t change the code or something. And because of that, plugins were hard to find.
My users who visit my site, daily and already so many years, were totally used to the many features that SMF had/has. So the day I switched, they arrived at a forum who was completely empty.
Sure there are plugins, but not all plugins work (well) and sometimes you need spent hundreds of hours to get a plugin working. Not everyone has the time for it.
My forum doesn’t have a private message system, cause the plugins that are available, don’t work on it.
The forum doesn’t have a build-in feature for users to upload their own avatar. I had to achieve that via a plugin and hundreds of hours spending on this forum.
I don’t wanna sound like I’m complaining, I just want that it should be clear to some members that they should be a bit more open minded and not think that everything is fine and everyone can handle it. There are webmasters out there, that spent lots of time on bbPress forums and their own site to make it work like a normal forum.
In reply to: New Theme For BBPressThe theme looks awesome!
In reply to: New users overwrites existing after integrationNever mind, I restored my old site again, gonna try to figure out what exactly went wrong.
In reply to: Maintenance Mode?I tried the code, it’s not working.
Anyone?
In reply to: Change theme if mobile browser detected.@ifuschini that’s very nice, but unfortunately, i think most webmasters don’t have access to their httpd.conf file (that’s including me)
In reply to: Forum rules acceptance and acknowledgementOpen the folder terms-of-service, you will find a file called terms-of-service.html, copy and paste your own agreement in there, save and upload.
In reply to: Making `from` a link in Topic View@matveb thanks that worked.
In reply to: Making `from` a link in Topic ViewI’ve been using this code for a while now, untill I discovered in my Google webmaster tools account that it’s giving some broken URL’s. Appearantly this code only works when you have pretty URL’s turned on — which is not in my case.
Is there a way to link it to profile id’s instead of profile names? (e.g. domain/profile.php?id=2
instead of
domain/username)Thanks in advance.
In reply to: What's happening with bbPress?As long as this community doesn’t quit on bbPress, bbPress will not die.
In reply to: What's happening with bbPress?Wow
The bbPress Showcase has been discontinued.
The removal of Sam Bauers and the halting of bbpress.org 2.0
was a clear and final sign that there is no interest in allowing
bbPress to become a mature, robust program and community.
By now bbPress 1.5 could have been in alpha but instead
bbPress development has been deliberately stagnated,
which should be a very alarming warning to everyone.
In addition, bbShowcase had only six donations in 2009,
which indicated to me there was no interest in my work.
My code will remain on bbpress.org as open source GPL
for those that wish to use it, however I caution you to
consider bbPress's lack of leadership before continuing to use it.In reply to: Where is the word 'sticky' hidden?This is the whole code I used btw:
<?php if ( bb_is_user_logged_in() ) : ?>
<?php else: ?>
<a href="http://domain/register.php" >Register free</a>
<?php endif; // bb_is_user_not_logged_in() ?>In reply to: Where is the word 'sticky' hidden?@nickaster thanks
I implemented it today, it works like a charm
In reply to: Akismet deletes "spam" without letting me decide?However the user still can’t post in that topic, but his replies do apear in other topics. Weird.
I also agree with chipbennett.
In reply to: Akismet deletes "spam" without letting me decide?Thanks chipbennett, I tried that. I found 8 false positives.
In reply to: small mistak in Post Editor of Bbpress siteHoly F, i just tried it on my forum, and it’s working, WOW
In reply to: small mistak in Post Editor of Bbpress siteI didn’t know this was even possible. I don’t think its working in Chrome though, is it?
In reply to: Akismet deletes "spam" without letting me decide?I’m having the exact same problem. Akismet blocked a lot of replies, which I had to manually search hard in the database to put it back. But via the interface, it shows a nice chart, but no where, where you can see, which posts, topics or user accounts it has blocked.
Last night me and a user, who was blocked, after doing a lot of testing at 2 a.m. discovered that his posts are not appearing in some topics.
I prefer to have Akismet, but I also prefer to see in the backend if posts are being marked as spam, which posts exactly. Just like in WordPress.

In reply to: Where is the word 'sticky' hidden?What code did this for you:
» You're Not Logged In. Please Login or Register «
In reply to: Where is the word 'sticky' hidden?I don’t think you should remove the word [sticky] as its very handy for users, if they can see which topics are sticky. but thats just my meaning.
you should add a new colom in the left, and add
<?php topic_icon(); ?>
in it.See

If you can’t do it, just copy paste the whole front-page.php in this thread, ill try to help you.
