In reply to: Tagging/mentioning another user
Yes, I guess I can do that, although it is less than convenient when trying to reply. I also seem to see what it is when hovering over the name, as the link to the profile appears at the very bottom. That could work, but really not obvious for the other members who might want to respond. I guess it will do for now.
Thanks. In reply to: Tagging/mentioning another userOK so, if the login name does not show under the user’s avatar, how do we know what it is? (speaking as someone who just wants to reply to someone in particular)
In reply to: Akismet — false positives, grrrr!I agree with you. It would be nice if someone would double-check those plugins and update the mention on WP to avoid those warnings, especially if the plugins are well built and should still work without issues.
In reply to: Akismet — false positives, grrrr!I do get a few spams but not many. And typically, one member will email me if I didn`t see it, but since I get a notification of all the posts and all the new topics, I usually catch them. My main issue is mostly for those legit posts that end up in the spam. I get the notification they were posted, but not that they were flagged as spam, so I have no way to know to go check in the backend to “un-spam” them.
2. I also use https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/moderation-tools-for-bbpress/ that way the topic or reply does not ‘disappear’ the author sees it as pending, and you get an email so you know to take action.
This plugin might no longer be supported, it seems.
In reply to: Akismet — false positives, grrrr!I was coming to post the same thing. I am not sure what common denominator those posts have, but posters get annoyed when their post disappears (even mine, on occasion). I didn’t think it was Akismet though as real spam posts ARE left posted!
In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostGD Attachment will show as a thumbnail. But, if you have lightbox activated on your site then you can click the image and it shows it enlarged. Works very nice.
Just a little annoying to HAVE to click for every image one wants to see. On my site, it is all about scrapbooking, so every image has to be seen.
As for TinyMCE you have to make sure you are not using the cut down toolbar which will strip the extra buttons from the display.
Not sure what you mean by the “cut down toolbar”.
bbPress multi-image uploader does something similar but instead of small thumbnails, it is just a smaller version of the image so you can often view it as is. Anyone able to update that plugin (or check if it does even need an update)?
See an example: https://scrapbookcampus.com/Community/topic/bootcamp-july-2020/page/4/In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostNot sure what changed, but I tried to re-enable the Tiny MCE Advanced, and I can no longer upload images: the upload button is no longer there.
I tried the GD Attachment and it does show only a rectangular thumbnail (horizontal, even if the image is vertical).
bbPress multi-image uploader still work for me and the Inline Image Upload for BBPress works well too.
In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostIn my forum, people are posting images they created on their computer, so I never looked into the mobile aspect of it.
In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostI just found the same one! And it works well too! (just tested it)
Happy user here!In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostI see that TinyMCE Advanced allows to post images but they only show as rectangular thumbnails. Any other way to display images, even if only sized down, but still larger than a thumbnail?
In reply to: Uploading Pic Directly Into PostI have used this plugin for a long time now: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-multi-image-uploader/
Although it does not let one post images INSIDE the posts (they only display after the text), it is VERY useful. The problem now, is that the plugin has not been updated in 2 years. It still works, but I was also looking for an alternative.I will look at Chuckie’s suggestion.
In reply to: Moving a reply to a new topicI see the option to split, yes. But once i click on Split, I have two options:
1- New topic in [existing forum] titled: This forces me to use the same forum. No way to change to a different one.
2- Use an existing topic in this forum: And it has the drop-down list of the topics in this same forum. Again, this won’t allow me to move that split into a different forum
Shouldn’t that all be done in the same place?
In reply to: Moving a reply to a new topicChuckie, I would also like to do that, and I have not found a way either.
In reply to: Moving a reply to a new topicIt is not a matter of failing, but the drop-down list of where a reply can be moved will only include the topics in the same forum, so …
– if someone replies to a thread by something that should be its own topic, I cannot see a way
– if someone starts a topic in the wrong forum, I cannot see a way to move it to a different forumDo you go through that route or a different way?
In reply to: Moving a reply to a new topicIs that even possible?
I am trying in the front end and also in the backend, but cannot see a way to move a reply to a different topic when someone posts in the wrong place. In reply to: Moving a reply to a new topicI am trying the same thing and I cannot even see other topics in the drop down list.
Just for additional information, I added an order number (other than the default 0) on one of the subforums for the SHOWROOM and now, they appear.
Strangely, I changed it on ONE of them, and both appear.
Stranger, the other subforums for the other forums, all have a 0 in their order field. Thanks for the update. And as you can see, in the Showroom, if you click on it, you will see that “Private” topic, that is currently set to Private and scheduled for later in the week. Just weird. I am sure I have scheduled posts before!
I don’t know if this is anyhow related but I am trying to schedule some posts ahead of time and on the index, it shows that I added a new topic an hour ago. In the sub-forum, the topic DOES show, even though clicking on it leads to a page saying there is nothing there.
I tried setting that topic to private, to pending, to schedule for tomorrow, for a week from now. I tried to view logged in, or in an incognito window. I tried with your plugin active and not active but the topic always displays.
If it is not related, I’ll post this question on a separate thread.
I noticed someone else adding a reply, and the time is correct while that little plugin of yours is enabled.
I installed the plugin and added a reply to one thread, and it displays the date correctly in the index.
I might wait for other replies from others to confirm further. Not sure what nested threads would look like, so I don’t think I use that.
