I’ll ask AWJunkies to jump in and take a peek at these requests for you guys.
In reply to: No graphics is appearing in the forum.NO, I’m sorry, I don’t have the time to fix individual sites like that. If it were me, I’d start by asking the theme author what is going on and see if he will help out. If not, you can always ask on sites like wpquestions.com where you can hire a developer.
In reply to: CSS for forumI sent you an email early yesterday
sticky sticks a topic to the top of the forum it belongs in.
super-sticky sticks a topic to the top of all forums
In reply to: Where to manage subscribed threads?Yeah, good catch.
I’m guessing it’s probably best to wait for buddyPress 1.6 as it’s going to have much better integration with bbPress.
There is going to be a bit more involved to it, than following what the other thread mentions. Unfortunately I have not yet spent time reading buddyPress code base to know what actions to edit.
Did you click the recount button, check all the boxes, and run the script?
If so, then I’m not sure what went wrong, Alex would be the person for that answer.
In reply to: No graphics is appearing in the forum.Maybe if you detail exactly how you set it up we can help
What I was saying is that there is no WordPress header information even.
The normal way to install bbPress is to simply download the plugin and add it to your WordPress plugin folder. Then activate the plugin, configure the forums in the admin and your done.
In reply to: Where to manage subscribed threads?Yeah, I am not sure at the moment, but I will be trying buddyPress integration some time next week. Maybe someone else can chime in with an idea.
In reply to: Where to manage subscribed threads?I see, that is buddypress.
I don’t know how to manage favorites and subscriptions with buddypress, I don’t use it yet
**very nice website!**
In reply to: Where to manage subscribed threads? In their profile page.
If they click on their gravatar and go to their profile page, it will show their subscriptions, favorites, and started threads.
example:
I’d send a message to Alex over at his site to have him take a peek.
Restart is meant when you want to clean everything out and try again. Normally if bbConverter stops for any reason, you simply type in the details, don’t check the boxes, and click start
It is pretty good at picking up where it left off at. At least for me, I had to stop a few times in order to take my laptop with me. I picked up where I left off, and in the end it worked fine.
Not sure what you mean by recount giving funny effects.
In reply to: Upload imagesYes, if you are using bbPress 2.1 nightly with WordPress 3.3, you have the ability to turn on the tinymce editor and insert images.
By default only the admin can insert images. There are ways of making it so that anyone can post images if you want to.
I’d go over to wordpress and ask there
In reply to: How do I remove Gravatars from bbpress 2?wp-admin / settings / discussion
on bottom of page choose no gravatar
In reply to: Configure layout and CSSI answered your other post asking this question.
In reply to: CSS for forumOuch, no offense but I would find another theme. First of all, you can’t actually do what you are asking with that theme.
I went over to themeforest and checked it out so that I could get a better idea of what it is doing.
For something like that, I’d ask the designer to see if he can come up with a solution.
In reply to: I Will Not Eat Spam (+ Dr Seus)I can relate. I setup a demo site that was not published anywhere. It was basically just my dumping bin to try code in. It got to the point of 500+ spam posts a day so I finally just deleted it.
I have to admit though, I was running open posting with no spam protection, so it was my fault.
My current plan of attack is going to be a little bit different.
I will allow normal signups as usual, however the users will be classified as subscribers and will have zero permissions to post.
Once they are a member, then they will have to go in and fill out yet another page (extended profile page) of information in order to change their status to ‘forum participant’.
On that page I will use honeypots and a few other tricks. This page url will also auto-rotate urls to try and stop some of the automation.
Even then I will set it up so that a person has to have their first post approved by a moderator prior to it becoming visible to the public.
You will not see a users ‘website’ in their profile until they have 10 posts.
Users will not be able to insert any url into their topic/reply until they have at least 5 topics.
I can do that because I have 50+ very active moderators on my site, so there would be little to no delay in their first post being approved.
This won’t stop the manual spam input by humans. For that I am going to have to rely on my moderators.
I have no idea if this will work, but figured I would try it.
No one is going to care about the extra steps involved. And if they do, then I don’t want them in my house anyhow.
1. No,
2. lack of time, JJ’s busy writing code to improve bbPress so we all benefit.
In reply to: How to make bbPress 2 display on the front page? The ‘default’ way to do this would be to create a page and place the forums shortcode on the page. Then in the settings/reading assign that page to the front. Of course you would also want to create a blog page and use a blog template for that page in order to display your posts.
In reply to: Disable sub-forums in bbPress 2?If you don’t create sub-forums then there are no sub-forums.
In reply to: Shortcodes from other pluginsIn reply to: Multiple Forums on Different PagesYou could always use WordPress network mode and give each of your Universities their own ‘blog’ on the network. Then it would be a matter of simply setting up a bbPress forum for each blog site.
In reply to: Theme In WordPressbbPress works with 90% of all the themes out there. If you are using the default bbPress theme, then it may take a few css tweaks to get it working properly.
In reply to: Where are the right template files?for bbPress the theme files are in
wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten
Not sure where you went wrong from what I can see. I do see that there is no css from bbpress in your theme anywhere.
As to your questions about sytles and functions, yes you can either combine them together or use include statements to include separate files for bbpress if you wish.
