also you want to set up redirects if you have shared links somewhere so people don’t get a page not found when they go to your old links, not sure who you are hosting on, but we used these redirect rules

source ^/forum/.+/.+/(.+)-thread.+

your would look like this I think source ^/message-board/.+/.+/(.+)-thread.+
destination /forums/topic/$1/

now all the links on reddit, facebook, google etc will now go to the correct new topic instead of a 404 page
