Over the coming weeks we will be releasing a series of 1.0 alpha versions for download.
The more adventurous among you may want to help out with testing these alpha versions. Probably the best thing to do is create a duplicate version of your installation (including a duplicate database) and then test there.
We would appreciate help with people looking for issues with upgrading, the user interface and any bugs in the new admin interface.
You can download the alpha releases via the download page.
You can use trac to report bugs as you would with the normal release. Please remember to add the version number to any new tickets.
Hello,
it is possible to have a “diff” (like wordpress, with the changeset function of trac) between 0.9.2 and 1.0 alpha?
thanks 🙂
No. The diff would be almost as large as the actual release. And it would be much more unwieldy.
If you’re using SVN, you can do an svn switch.

which wp version should be used when it comes to integration with bb press 1.0 ?
2.6 is okay?
Excellent! Thanks for the work!
Is this series intended to be compatible for WordPress 2.6 integration, or is that still in development?
For integration with WordPress The alpha releases are compatible with WordPress version 2.6 or higher only.
There is no feature list as such. In fact, you will find that not much has changed at this stage on the front end. The main difference is that we are now using the BackPress library for core functionality. There are some other “under the hood” changes as well, like the introduction of WordPress’ taxonomy structure for storing tags and the creation of a global meta table which can store metadata for forums, topics and posts as well as site options. The global meta table can also store custom meta from plugins.
The major cosmetic difference is the new admin area which is modelled on WordPress.

WordPress integration is still very broken when attempting to include the WP header.
Is it safe enough to upgrade a production system?
Will the caching feature be implemented by the 1.0 release?
Wow the new admin area is working really good! Great job!
Any chance of getting the WordPress Super Cache for bbPress?
When will you make a phpbb3 -> bbpress convertor please ? IT ‘d be so cooool 🙂 !
“The major cosmetic difference is the new admin area which is modelled on WordPress.”
But that means all that work will have to be redone. WordPress is changing their whole admin area for 2.7 which will be out in November. See: https://wordpress.org/development/2008/09/wordpress-27-navigation-options-survey/
Can’t wait to see where BBPress will be in a year.
Can wordpress 2.7 still be compatible with bbpress 1.0?
