blueplato.com is up and running. Take a look and feel free to offer some gentle criticisms. One problem, I had my service with bbpress installed on my computer using EasyPHP and using localhost in the config. I had the location set to http://blueplato.com/forums/bbpress and since uploading my files to the host directory I am getting 403 error access denied. I know enough that this is because my data base as it was set-up for my local host will not work on the host. So, I ask…the quick fix would be to uninstall and reinstall using the host address…? is this correct?

Also, when doing this, is the location given as http://domain name.com/public_html/?

Hi there… I’m a vBulletin veteran, but am considering a switch over to bbPress to use in tandom with wordpress. Can anyone out there tell me the advantages of using bbPress compared to vBulletin? Is it just as powerful? Does it tie into WordPress seemlessly?

I also need to know if some features I require are available in bbPress… Here is my shortlist:

– Ability to act as forums admin (edit everything)

– Ability to add moderators to specific forums

– Custom avatars and signatures for users?

– Spam and ‘bad word’ filters?

– Private email/messaging system?

– Can I create categories/subcategories?

– Can I create little thumbnails for these categories?

There’s more but that’s a short list… Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated

I would like to customize my bbpress installation so topics in one specific forum do not display the authors of the replies. This is different from anonymous posting because I want admins to know who is posting, but just don’t display it to everyone else. The purpose is to allow a silent auction type function.

Does anyone have pointers on how I could modify bbpress to accomplish this? I am fairly comfortable with PHP. Thanks in advance!

I’m testing out some things and trying to synchronize WordPress, BBPress and Amember Subscription software. I have pretty much everything worked out, but need a little cookie help if it’s out there.

I’ve read this post, which outlines cookie settings

The problem is that I don’t want to install the cookie plugin for WP because I already have this in my Wp-config file

define(‘SITECOOKIEPATH’, ‘/’);

define(‘COOKIEHASH’, md5($_SERVER[HTTP_HOST]));

I guess my question is, what do I put into my BB config file for cookies?

I realize this may not be a direct BBPress issue, but I thought maybe one of you had an idea.

well, i ve got this msg: Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for bbPress.

And well, i have the config.php in the host already, with all the Database info on it. its alright, i checked more than twice, the file is on the correct folder (the only thing i did was change the dorectory name), but since i have 2 databases: one is version 4.x of MYSQL and the other 5.x i already tried with both Databases and i cannot make this happen…

What should i do?
