GlamRock.com

Published on October 6th, 2007 by

Would just like to share my new site with you. GlamRock.com is a community for people into Glam.

The blog is WordPress and the forum is an integrated bbPress installation.

I did the design and all the html stuff myself but for the the php stuff, I contracted IndianElite.com out of Calcutta to install, mod & skin both the blog & forum.

Generally speaking, I’m quite happy with bbPress. While it was too basic straight up, the plug ins do make it more sophisticated yet easy to administer. Actually, administration is so simple and is easier to drive than notepad.

So far, it’s working out OK. Would certainly welcome your feedback as I’m thinking about V2.

How to Write BBPress Plugins.

Is there any docs where I can read up on how to write a plugin for BBPress?

How hard or easy is it to convert a WP plugin to BBPress?

Published on October 5th, 2007 by

Why am I getting “WordPress database error: [Table ‘jamtho_southerillinoiswatcher.wp_post2cat’ doesn’t exist” when I do a search from my WordPress sidebar? Do I really need to create another wp db table “wp_post2cat” ?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: pm_fp_link()

Published on October 5th, 2007 by

I have been working on this for a while and could use a little help. I am getting close to getting things to work, so, does anyone know what the solution to “Fatal error: Call to undefined function: pm_fp_link() in /hsphere/local/home/jamtho/southernillinoiswatcher.com/forums/bb-templates/kakumei/front-page.php on line 75” is? This is line 75, <?php if (bb_current_user_can(‘write_posts’)) : ?> <?php pm_fp_link(); ?> <?php endif; ?> .

Thanks.

bbpressraw.com blank bbpress themes!

Published on October 4th, 2007 by Graeme

Hi,

I’ve just launched a new site bbpressraw.com. The site provides a set of lean & mean bbPress themes that are designed to enable you to quickly develop your own custom bbPress themes. They should save you a great deal of time if you are trying to create your own theme from scratch.

The themes are compatible with and have been tested with bbPress 0.8.3.

A number of layout variations have been provided, including:

  • 1col_fixed: bbPress blank 1-column theme with fixed width
  • 1col_fluid: bbPress blank 1-column theme with fluid width
  • 2col_fixed_left: bbPress blank 2-column theme with left sidebar and fixed width
  • 2col_fixed_right: bbPress blank 2-column theme with right sidebar and fixed width
  • 2col_fluid_left: bbPress blank 2-column theme with left sidebar and fluid width
  • 2col_fluid_right: bbPress blank 2-column theme with right sidebar and fluid width

For now the themes have been made available. During the next week I’ll be posting some tips to get you up and running quickly!

Enjoy!

I am using the Safari browser. The bbPress Extend page reads up recent updates far to the right.

It may be my browser.

Creating/changing language-files?

Published on October 4th, 2007 by Daniel Juhl

I’ve found a great danish translation here on bbPress.org, but now I’ve installed some plugins, and I new a few more texts to the language file.

How do I add new text-lines? I’m new to poEdit.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /bb-settings.php on line 173

Published on October 4th, 2007 by

I just upgraded to the latest wordpress 2.3 and bbpress 0.8.3 and now when I try and access any page I get the following error at the top of the page:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in bb-settings.php on line 173

I checked the bb-settings.php file and the line looks like:

foreach ( glob(BBPLUGINDIR . ‘_*.php’) as $_plugin )

I checked BBPLUGINDIR to see if it’s been set correctly, and it does indeed point to the location of my-plugins.

I’m running PHP5 with a mamp server on os x.. I’ve never had a problem with bbpress before (being using it for a few months now), and only saw this error with the upgrade.

has anyone else seen this, or know how to remove it?

cheers,

Jason
