Is there a way for me to allow guests to create new posts for my forum? For example, a user wants to add a support question but doesn’t want to register.

What I want is something where everyone can view topics in a specific forum, but only registered users can reply (normal) and only a specific userlevel and higher can post new topics.

Is there built-in functionality or a plugin that allows you to add a small thumb or icon next to each forum?…

I have a WP forum and am looking for a great forum package… I’ve used vbulletin for years and it is so powerful, but if I can find something that is almost as powerful, and ties in nicely with WP I will use it…

I just setup bbpress and integrated it into my WordPress blog.

The good news is that when I signup a new user in my WordPress blog I can also log into my bbpress forum using the same username and password.

But I would like the user to remain logged in. For example if I login to my WP blog and then click a link that takes me to a post in my bbpress forum, I have to login again.

I thought I did everything necessary in order to synchonize WP and bbpress.

Does anybody have any clues what could be wrong?

I don’t have the time right now to created something like this, so perhaps someone else does.

This is what I would like to have:

When a user signs up at the forum, his registrationd date is saved. Now after 1 year I want to auto delete this user unless he prolonges his membership.

In short:

sign up -> 1 year later -> e-mail to member with a link to prolong his membership -> extent membership for another year OR delete user if link is not clikcked in x days.

So the mail would have some text like:

Dear $user,

It’s 1 year ago when you signed up at $forumname. In order to keep our database clean we automaticly delete all users that have signed up 1year ago. If you want to stay a member, click the following link:

-link-

If this link isn’t clicked in x days your membership will be terminated.

The user will get an comfirmation when his membership is deleted or prolonged.

Until the users acts his membership will be frozen. When login in at this time he will see a messages like: account frozen plze read your -email to re-activate.

This way I hope to keep the database clean and auto delete inactive users AND bots.

i installed BBPress today..its awesome…..but i have problem in user registration..its telling me that they will send me the password in mail. I did registration before 20 hours , but still havenot received any mail regarding password…Can you help me in this?

Where do i put them? here? if so..

i think bbp should have 2 options at install, standalone or integrate with WP .. and since so many ppl want this under WP it should be default

So i added

require_once($_SERVER . ‘/kent/wp-blog-header.php’);

in my config and it seems working fine. Can i now use functions as is_user_logged_in() and wp_list_categories() in my bbp templates ?

Can either sides registration/login be totally skipped? ex. remove bbp´s registration?

I am trying to create a ddlb with all user roles as options. I just can’t manage to create one. I can make one manually, putting the user roles in by hand (html), but I want to pull them from the database and create a ddlb from it.

Any ideas? Want to use it in a plugin I am working on, so a function would be nice.
