Avatar integration with wordpress

Published on May 5th, 2009 by

Hello,

I followed this guide http://www.cssjockey.com/wordpress/deep-integrating-wordpress-271-and-bbpress-0904 (which is very helpful for a beginner) and now have bbPress integrated with WordPress.

What I want to do now is let users upload their own avatar which will appear with their posts/profiles in the forum but also with any comments/profile on the wordpress side.

There seem to be various standalone avatar plug-ins for wordpress and bbpress but is there anything which is compatible with both systems?

I’d rather not use Gravatars if at all possible so user’s don’t have to rely or register on an external site.

Any help, suggestions or pointers would be appreciated.

WordPress access to bbPress Functions : wp-admin problems

Published on May 4th, 2009 by

Hi everyone,

I just integrated bbpress functions on my wp by adding :

require_once(‘path/to/wp-blog-header.php’);

It works, but now the CSS is broken on my Wp admin, and also the jQuery.

Is there a way to fix it ?

Many thanks.

Changing the server full path Url

Published on May 4th, 2009 by tom_b

I’ve got wordpress running on a windows server through Godaddy. I’m having problems with wordpress using a local host full path as “D:Hosting4218749htmlwp-contentcache/ ?” when it should be “http://www……..htmlwp-contentcache”.

How do I go about changing the path to my server URL on Godaddy’s Windows server ?

I’ve reinstalled mySQL and wordpress over with no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated…

getting an installation error but the bb has been running for a week

Published on May 4th, 2009 by

I installed bbpress about a week ago and it was running fine until yesterday when it started returning this message when you go to the site:

Oh Dear!

An invalid configuration file was found at bb-config.php

The installation cannot continue.

Usually this is caused by one of the database connection settings being incorrect. Make sure that the specified user has appropriate permission to access the database.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Hide login/sign in page

Published on May 3rd, 2009 by

Currently the bbpress sign in page is site.com/forum

I want to change *just* the login page. So when someone comes to site.com/forum, I want it appear blank and the actual login page is site.com/aforum where users can see the login fields. The rest of the urls can be the same.

Any way to to this?

Alternatively, can I re-locate the forum to a new url say /aforum very easily?

Thanks in advance!

Stats – Coming Soon

Published on May 3rd, 2009 by

The Stats section for each plugin has been “Coming Soon” for a while now:

https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/role-manager/stats/

I totally understand that little things get lost in the shuffle… just a reminder to the admins that we should either add the stats, or delete the stats tab from the plugin section entirely.

Thanks!
