Can I add custom permalink option

Published on March 25th, 2010 by jomontvm

I would like to have separate categories for forums in English and Arabic with slug ‘en’ and ‘ar’ respectively. Also I want to create forums with corresponding language under these categories.

I would like to have my fourm URLs look as follows.

mysite.com/fourm/ar/forum-arabic-1

mysite.com/fourm/ar/forum-arabic-2

mysite.com/fourm/en/forum-english-1

mysite.com/fourm/en/forum-english-2

I tried changing the permalink option to “name based”, but gives the URLs as follows.

mysite.com/forum/forum/forum-arabic-1

mysite.com/forum/forum/forum-arabic-2

Is there any way to get the URLs as I mentioned above?

Or is there any way to add a custom permalink option so as to get the permalink in the below format?

mysite.com/forum/[category_slug]/[forum_slug]

Thanks in advance

Editing the RSS feed output

Published on March 24th, 2010 by vcmeuk

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to edit the output of the RSS feeds?

Specifically i’m looking to change the output for individual forum feeds so that the title instead of reading postername on “post title” i’d like it to output simply “post title”

looking high and low for support forum premium theme

Published on March 24th, 2010 by

If anyone has suggestions or pointers on where to find some quality bbpress premium themes that are geared toward being used as a support forum, I’d love to know. Ideally, I would like something that greatly expands the admin control panel to allow similar functionality with standard wp 2.9.2 features.

Thanks in advance!

integrating BBpress as a WP page

Published on March 24th, 2010 by

I’ve recently completed a deep install of bbpress (great tuts here at the forums!) but it didn’t do what I thought it would do, which is allow me to insert bbpress as an integrated component of my main WP install. What I would like, is to be able to use the main wp widgetized sidebar and manage the bbpress forum via the same admin login as the primary WP install.

I would also like to have the same sort of functionality with editing php and css templates, etc. in bbpress as with WP but after reading around, it seems that I am out of luck (any advice here is greatly appreciated).

I feel like I’m missing something or off track. Any help/insight/feedback is greatly appreciated.

bb_rel_nofollow – Does not work !

Published on March 24th, 2010 by chrisbrocklesby

Hi,

This would be my third post I made on this now (Sorry) (I seemed to have been bozo’ed on my other posts as my posts aint showing on my other computer which I think is off MOD’s – why would you do this ?) but really think this is a serious issue for the bbPress community.

I like many others have the bb_rel_nofollow filter in place to help against the fight against spam. It some what works but… if I put rel=”follow” in the html markup in a post I can over ride the nofollow filters.

A example can be seen on post 82/83 of my beta forum: http://www.diyextra.com/forum/topic/this-is-a-test-of-the-lenght-of-the-forum-title-test-123-and-again?replies=19#post-82

Does anyone know of this problem and does anyone have a patch to this.

Many Thanks in Advance.

Chris

my plugin submission keeps getting deleted

Published on March 24th, 2010 by webpurify

Everytime I submit my plugin, I go back after a week or two and my plugin is no longer listed when I log in. Does that mean it was rejected? and if so shouldn’t I get a explanation?

WP BBpress Synchronization

Published on March 24th, 2010 by Process of Illumination

Hello,

wp/bb sync used to work very well for me but all of a sudden i’ve got this problem:

the comment from bbpress to wordpress appears blank, no words in it. There is the name of the author, comment isnt in approval but is published on the site, counted in bbpress… just EMPTY, lol.

Plugin works perfectly the other way round, from wp to bb.

I am using WP version 2.9.2. and BBpress Version 1.0.2.

Does anyone has any advice, please? I really dont know how to get it back to work, i have tried and failed so many times, already.

Thank you very much.

hundreds of spam users…

Published on March 24th, 2010 by fifthhouse

I have had my bbpress forums “hidden” meaning that I disabled the menu linking to my forums, so that nobody can see them. However I just discovered that I have over 500 “users” all of which are spam.

How do I stop this from happening? My forums are not active right now but I haven’t been able to figure out how to “turn them off”.

Another question is, how do I delete all these spam users? The control panel only seems to allow me to delete them one at a time…? This will take days for me to delete them.

https problem?

Published on March 24th, 2010 by rdalton

I have a fresh install of wordpress on a secured site. The default is https so cant use http when accessing. I’ve installed bb press on a subdirectory of the main site, hoping to integrate so members of the wordpress site could access the forum and vice versa, but after installing the bb press, I can’t log into admin to do anything in bb press. It doesnt give an error message, it just recycles to the login page. The server tech support guys havent a clue. I’ve seen that bb press works on https but what the heck? any clues? I would pay someone to get this up and integrated as needed.

Private Access to Forum Only?

Published on March 23rd, 2010 by dogeil

Our group is looking at setting up a forum on our Web site. However, one of the things we want is for it to ONLY be accessible by members of our group as items we discuss are amongst our members only.

Is it possible to do with with bbPress?

Example, if we have 50 companies as part of our group, the Administrator could be the only person who would set up access for people in this group. No other person could join so that any information or questions posted would only be able to be read and accessed by whomever is part of the group. In other words, no other person could join, like I just did here, and be able to access the forums.

Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Duane
