How can I do this?

Published on June 19th, 2010 by ts230

Is it possible that users are required to take a quiz of 10 questions, and answer 9 of them right to gain posting privileges? This also includes users integrated from WP.

Existing WPMU 3 with new bbPress install

Published on June 19th, 2010 by

I currently have a functional WPMU 3 installation. I am trying to add bbPress forums that integrate with logins from WPMU. I installed bbPress and it looked like it was working. But, there are some problems with logins and stuff. If you log out of the blog and the forums then login to the blog, you are logged into both the blog and forums, like it’s supposed to. But, if you login to the forums instead of the blog it doesn’t work. When you login to the forums, you are logged into the forums fine, but not the blog. The minute you even bring up the login form or try to access the admin area of your blog (which brings up the login form), you get logged out of the forums.

I want people to be able to register/login on either the blog or the forums and be logged into both, and the same thing happen when they logout of either the blog or the forums.

After I installed bbPress, I looked at my forums folder and my bb-config file was still bb-config-sample and none of the information was changed.

Eliminate the freshness column

Published on June 19th, 2010 by johnhds

Is there a way to eliminate the freshness column? I do not have a freshness plugin.

I feel the freshness may keep people from coming to the site if the post times are not very recent. Maybe its just my thinking; but I would like to try and see what effect it may have.

Troubleshooting White Screen of Death

Published on June 19th, 2010 by Ashish Kumar (Ashfame)

I am deep integrating bbPress with WordPress 3.0 and I am encountering this white screen of death. I have done several integrations this way and never got stuck.

I use this code above database constants in bb-config.php

if ( !defined('ABSPATH') & !defined('XMLRPC_REQUEST')) {
define('WP_USE_THEMES', false);
include_once(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../wp-load.php' );
header("HTTP/1.1 200 OK");
header("Status: 200 All rosy");
}

I checked the logs and there are no 500 errors, all are 200.

I loaded the WordPress in a separate php file which works fine, so I guess something is conflicting in between WordPress and bbPress.

bbPress has no plugins installed but WordPress does have some and its a live site.

I am going to check for any conflicting plugins.

Any pointers?

[resolved] installing VigLink in bbpress

Published on June 19th, 2010 by NikonRumors

Has anyone tried to install VigLink (http://www.viglink.com) affiliate program in bbpress?

Where should I insert the script? The instructions are:

This code should be inserted at the very end of your pages, just before the [/body] tag.

The code needs to be present on every page where you’d like VigLink to work. The best way to install this code everywhere is to add it to your site’s template.

Thanks!

Download location

Published on June 18th, 2010 by WimTibackx

Hello,

It’s been a while (some years) since I last had the intention of using bbPress and as far as I can see things have changed since then. However, the current downloads on this website don’t seem to be working so I thought I’d pop in here to ask if anyone has a download location (I could download it from svn, but I thought I’d ask here first, would be simpler). At the same time I’d like to ask which version I’d be best to use, as I heard 1.0 ain’t a good one.

Any tips?

Thanks,

Wim Tibackx

noob bb/wp installation issues

Published on June 18th, 2010 by jeremiahsjamison

i’m trying to install BB & integrate into WP. am a noob, so apologies.

=can i upload the bbpress 1.0.2.zip directly as with other plugins? appears not, as after upload there’s nothing in plugins list to manage

=assuming i am to upload bbpress via ftp, how do i get the whole folder to upload? this may be a problem with my ftp client, which won’t let me throw a whole folder onto the web site, it wants individual flyers.

=when i upload bbpress to my web site, which folder or path do i put it to?

any other tutorials and step-by-steps that are detailed i would much appreciate.

Password Problem

Published on June 18th, 2010 by johnhds

I am having a problem with the password not be accepted for some users. They can login one day and can’t the next because their password was not accepted. Do they have to keep getting new ones?

Any ideas or suggestions?

Anyone catch Matt's "State of the Word 2010"? bbPress Mentioned!

Published on June 18th, 2010 by Taeo

In case you didn’t it’s up on the WordPress 3.0 launch post – scroll down a bit.

https://wordpress.org/development/2010/06/thelonious/

If you work with WordPress in addition to bbPress I urge you to check it out. You’ll get alot of insight into how Matt sees things going in the future and how they (Automatic) approach open source.

If you don’t work with WordPress I still urge you to check it out! Towards the end a woman asks a question about the state of bbPress. He answers very frankly and cites these very forums.

I know there are many people on these forums right now that are not thrilled with Matt and Automatic’s handling of bbPress over the past year or so. For me his comments in this video really puts things in perspective and I now feel very good about the future of bbPress.

Earlier in the video Matt discusses how the WordPress team is planning on trying something new and releasing what he calls “core plugins” for WordPress 3 – basically large scale plugins that add powerful functionality and are officially supported by Automatic. I foresee bbPress becoming one such plugin.

Anyways enough of me telling you about it, go watch the video!

Upgrade to WordPress 3.0 Final Experiences?

Published on June 18th, 2010 by garrik

I have decided to hold off on upgrading to WordPress 3.0 because of my plugins and my fear of breaking something.

Has anyone using bbpress upgraded to 3.0 yet? Possible?
