How do you remove the profile menu tabs on the user’s profile page as it appears to another forum member?

display all subcategory POSTS on one view?

Published on December 12th, 2010 by guly

This feels like a dumb question, so sorry in advance if I’m missing something obvious here.

Is there a built-in way in bbPress to display all subcategory POSTS on one view?

For example, if you had a VEHICLES category, and the three subforums are CARS, TRUCKS and SUVS, is there a way to display all CARS, TRUCKS, and SUVS posts on one forum view?

If in the above example, you visit the VEHICLES forum page, it will list the 3 subforums separately, but will not list any posts. I’d like to see all posts on one page, not just the top-level forum listing.

Thanks!

Wp and bbpress

Published on December 11th, 2010 by

Everything I am reading seems to be to have bbpress work with wp users

however this is my situation..

We have a wp install with 1 user and hundreds of post

a recently converted bbpress from vb with about 800 users with thousands of forum post…

we need to have wp use the bbpress user database so users logged in at the bbpress can leave comments on the wp blog w/o having to enter their name/email as we want them to be already logged in using the bbpress login

we are using wp 3.0.2

and bbpress 1.0.2

this has been very frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciated

Logging into BBpress admin panel

Published on December 10th, 2010 by cshively

Hi, I did an integration between wordpress and bbpress about six months ago. About 2 months ago, I lost the ability to login to my admin screen for bbpress. When I go to my bbpress forum, I’m automatically logged in as the admin and can add/delete posts, edit my profile (it looks like I’m still the keymaster, but I’m not sure), etc. However, I can’t get to my bbpress admin panel. When I click on the “Forum Dashboard” link, it takes me to my wordpress admin panel. When I go to the URL that used to take me to my bbpress admin panel, I get my wordpress blog page (a default page, I believe). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Published on December 10th, 2010 by Myphone Duo

Do you have a tutorial or guide on how i can make my forum works perfectly on mobile devices. Many of my users are using cellphones but it’s quite bit odd for them to browse. Moreover, how can i make my forum accesible to something like m.myforum.com

I see most websites that has mobile support uses the “m” affix in their website address. Thank you!

Best way to structure a BBPress / WP site

Published on December 10th, 2010 by fooey14

Hi, a complete noob to BBPress, and a bit of knowledge about WP (enough to get into trouble).

We want a site which has:

– static content and blogs, available to the public

– static and contributed content restricted to members

– forum available to members only.

We do not want SEO, robots or anything to be indexing content in the forums

We want some of the member content to be indexed

Anything in the public area to be indexed.

The forums are based around mutual help/support and needs to be kept private (at least, from the world at large)

Capacity needs to be scalable to 75,000 active members, at any one time.

My question is, what would be the best way to handle this?

I see a standard WP site, with member restricted content; a standalone BBPress site (as a sub-domain) with user access based on the WP site (ie the only way to get to the forum is thru logon at the WP site)

We need to be scale and protect each of the “elements” (static/members/forum) independently.

all thoughts would be welcome.

thanks

Show some forum category not inside the latest on the front-page

Published on December 10th, 2010 by Jaja..

I was just wondering if this is possible.

on the front-page.php

<latest topics>

<topic 1>

<topic 2>

<topic 3>

<topic 4>

<Forum category>

<forum cat 1>

<forum cat 2>

<forum cat 3>

<forum cat 4>

<forum cat 5>

So forum category 5 will be a off topic forum (like small talk) and i would like that the new topics inside this category will NOT be visible inside the latest topics at the top because they are never really important.

Pull Latest Forum Posts within WordPress

Published on December 9th, 2010 by

Hopefully this is the easiest question ever asked. I have a WordPress site with BBP installed. I want to be able to pull the latest BBP posts in a php query I can use throughout the site. What is easiest way of doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Upgrade and the new dashboard

Published on December 9th, 2010 by Mr_Puck

Hi there,

I just upgraded to 1.0.2 and after I login in to the admin area I see no difference to the dashboard. More specifically, the only links in the dashboard are:

Forums

Topics

Posts

Users

There is no “Setting” or “appearance sections. I have cleared cache and tried with multiple browsers. Any idea what the trouble might be?
