Login form on front-page keeps appearing

Published on March 19th, 2011 by HohenHeizen

I’m having a problem with the login form when I goto the front page, it keeps appearing every time I reload the page. I’ve messed around with the themes so that may be causing it.. I don’t think it’s a cookie since when I click any forums/topic it shows I’m logged in. I’m pretty baffled.

Adding Read/Unread post status to bbPress Plugin?

Published on March 19th, 2011 by tooltrainer

I posted about this in the plugin updates thread but realize now that wasn’t really the best place. So here goes again…

The bbP plugin appears to currently have no way to differentiate to the reader between topics they have previously read, or not. I think this is pretty essential for any forum and of course there are many plugins to handle this for standalone bbP, but I don’t believe those will be of use if I’m using the bbP Plugin version.

I’d like to know if anyone has any interest in helping me tackle this feature. I’m just enough of a developer to understand the basic logic and queries required, but not familiar enough with the WP code structure to tackle it without making a huge mess.

I can see that every topic or forum is recorded as a Post with a corresponding post_type, so it seems to me that all that would be needed is to record the user_ids that have read any specific topic, in a new field alongside the post itself in wp_posts. Then when the topics are being listed, if the current user’s id is listed as having read that post already, style the title one way, else style it another way. That’s my lay-person’s solution anyway, someone else may have a better approach.

Anyone interested? I have a rather urgent need for this and am willing to pay someone to implement it if they can do so quickly. I’ve even just put a job up on Odesk in case anyone there could handle it. Whatever solution I end up with I will gladly contribute it back to the project if it’s wanted.

Thanks!

Jonathan

Filtering Posts By Forum Not Working

Published on March 18th, 2011 by natedesignsstuff

I use the forums for my college classes. I need to filter the posts by forum name, and I see in the admin panel there is a spot to do that, but for some reason when i type in a search term, then select a forum from the drop down menu–I click filter and the search term registers, but the forum name resets to ‘Any’ and shows me the results from ALL the forums.

I have no clue why this isn’t working and I’ve been looking forever.

The website is at http://paulconway.info/forum/launch/ if you need to look at anything.

I’ve tried multiple browsers.

Anyone else have this problem?

If there’s a fix I will email the administrators.

Manage Themes | Default theme is missing.

Hello I have installed bbpress and I got this error. I think in the folder includes/functions.bb-admin.php the file is there.

Any suggestion to solve this problem?

Thank you very much

Cookie key's and salts match – but single sign on still not working?

Published on March 18th, 2011 by km

Hi all,

I am using BBPress 1.03 and WordPress 3.1.

I have installed both, and BBpress successfully using my WordPress user database, with the relevant user roles mapped. I can log into BBpress using my WordPress user accounts.

I have the following at the top of both my wp-config.php file and my bb-config.php file (note: I don’t have the COOKIEHASH defined in bb-config.php):

define( 'COOKIEHASH', 'd36e8c873ff8f9c997d969ab483cd640' );
define( 'COOKIE_DOMAIN', '.mydomain.com' );
define( 'SITECOOKIEPATH', '/blog/' );
define( 'ADMIN_COOKIE_PATH', '/blog' );
define( 'COOKIEPATH', '/blog/' );

I then have the unique keys specified in both wp-config.php and bb.config.php:

define('AUTH_KEY',         'f3y#H_;s:WLry|<code>ja|$!|L%m0xbRE>:o@ N</code>(-Uv:,7WafXX,vR>=z>Uj c@[t>N');
define('SECURE_AUTH_KEY', ':(S7I[u%v0K<!0HAQWP1vcop^4+,=4=jj.ceAmioE|Zo<UY|7g&w$5ntdG,=k;6!');
define('LOGGED_IN_KEY', 'c<code>_Ce{WV{:OhB7in@>].^qb*-y=b@p|^K|_gx.%%^;</code>$2{:$X;eS5SJg<3nH.5)l');
define('NONCE_KEY', '@C%3/EU?/O=Xt36b;Z@;McIeo7UP-|9sqi&gk/f]p?c|Jx0ZNEnCmYS-_T^?[W$');
define('AUTH_SALT', '|++I0w;>^aBCc,eaUTRZxd+EUdj;H1q]_~1B7R blEql3lwt4#y-RziRyS&qVs5');
define('SECURE_AUTH_SALT', 'l<i3+Y-JrYB<3rirFmNi*+>|~:NXPfI _xGzl)2?myj aY{f{%v+U#by5kfFBb5E');
define('LOGGED_IN_SALT', 'Bk~2!XQR}_4H)qno#uTvH?+ }#h|F+KF&CSL5^a:eNM1_.aA]!~r(g|<cvl<;_@');
define('NONCE_SALT', 'P|gX2|>ScAMaOZCrEKv#F*/yZ;Wy*a|uuVA!!ds]MUhE.U,ok+sJMe4dF0;+qft');

(Note: in bbconfig.php all the defined values I have renamed with BB_ at the start (such as BB_AUTH_KEY)).

However, I’m still unable to log in to one application (WordPress or BBpress) and have me automatically logged in to the other. I still have to log in to each.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Kim
