Private/Hidden Forum – Topics and sub-forum disappear

Published on August 27th, 2012 by Suchar

Hello!

I’ve just installed bbPress plugin. Everything seems to work fine except private and hidden forums. When I set up private or hidden forum and publish it (and add sub-forums) everything is OK. However when I write a new topic or a new post and submit them in hidden/priavte forum I can’t see no more subforums etc. The same happens when I go to the main page of my forum – I can see only the name of hidden/private forum. There’s no difference if I use my admin account or forum participant account.

Subforums and topics in hidden/private forums apeear again when I go to the Forum options and update forums (but this doesn’t always work… :/ ).

I would be glad if anyone helps me.

My wordpress ver is 3.4.1 I use theme SIGHT and newest bbpress

It’s probably the same problem as here: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/forum-description-vanished/

distinguish between original post and replies

Published on August 27th, 2012 by Roger Coathup

How can I distinguish between the original post and replies, when viewing a topic?

The default template setup (single-topic.php) displays both the original post and the replies using a single loop (loop-replies.php).

Is there an alternative template part / function that allows us to isolate the original post from the replies to that post?

[aside: it’s somewhat confusing that bbPress treats the original post on a topic as a reply. What’s the logic behind that?]

User navigation?

Published on August 26th, 2012 by

Hi there, I’m a longtime admin of several popular neighborhood forums on bbPress, and I just upgraded one of the forums to 2.1. It’s missing user navigation like login, register, logout, create new topic, favorites, subscriptions, etc., and I can’t find how to add those links manually (which I can, just don’t know what code to use). You can see this in action here: http://www.magnoliavoice.com/forums Please help?

Show Forum description inside that specific forum at the top of the page

Published on August 26th, 2012 by partager

Ok it may be a bit confusing like that so you can reffer to my pictures I’ve linked. To be clear: -On forum main page (or sub-forum page) you have Forums names right? -A forum is shown with his title and Description (a picture can also be added right? -Once you clic on the forum name and get to it, the page is displayed with the Forum name in big text then you have post under it right? So, What I want is to get that specific forum description that I can see and read on the forum main page with the picture included. So When i’m in the forum I can read the description and see the image of the forum. All forum page look the same, this would help to see where they are and this is what i want to do. I just don’t know with what php I have to play and what I have to write to see that happen. Can I get some help? could it be a future option? forum image 1 Forum image 2

Removing the sidebar in the forums

Published on August 26th, 2012 by pcgs51

I am using the plugins/bbpress/bbp-theme-compat package for bbPress forum pages. In other pages in my site, I can easliy remove the sidebars from pages in my theme to display a full width page. But the pages in bbPress are very confusing and difficult to force them to full width. I haven’t been able to find a way to do it with CSS.

How can I make them all bbPress forum pages full width?
How can I make only specific bbPress forum pages full width?

Thanks.

None of my Members Can See Content in the Forums!

Published on August 26th, 2012 by jlblanchard3

I just installed BB Forums on my Wishlist Member website and for some reason, none of my members can see the content!! They can see the topics listed in the forums, but when they click to actually read the content, all they see is a box to reply, they don’t actually see the content.

I don’t know what the problem is! I’ve tried everything to make it work. Only my admin account can see everything.

PLEASE HELP! People are paying money to be a member of my site, I need all the parts to be working, and that includes the forums.

I am not a technical person, I can only do what I’m able, and I’m not good at this kind of stuff.

Any help would be appreciated.

wysiwyg editor in forum groups?

Published on August 26th, 2012 by coding-monkey

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to add a wysiwyg editor to the group forums, are there any plugins out there for this or not? As a editor is only included for sitewide forums correct?

Thanks!

Change forumbase template

Published on August 26th, 2012 by Remi

Hi!

I’ve a quick question. Probably it has been asked before, but I was unable to find the answer.

For example the bbpress forumbase is ‘bbpress’. If I go to www.mywordpressblog.com/bbpress the page is served via the archive-forum.php template file. But I rather use page-front-forums.php, because I don’t want the archive on that basepage, I want some extra content too.

Is it possible (perhaps via bbpress-functions.php) to change the chosen template file? I have already tried to create a page with the same permalink and the page-front-forums template file, but this page is than overridden by bbpress. So the bbpress base is showed instead of the page.

I hope you can help me out.

bbPress Version 2.1.2 vs. BuddyPress Version 1.6.1

Published on August 26th, 2012 by the.lions.historian

These two sites just don’t want to be friends.

I cannot get my forums page to be visible at all, and when I go into the forums settings, it says, ” Possible BuddyPress conflict: Forums page” next to the option to set the Forums Base (beneath Archive Slugs).

Anyone know a fix for this?

Also, just a random side question, I am having some them compatibility issues with Storefront Boutique (I’ve hit up their forum already, but didn’t know if anyone here as any suggestions).

Thanks much!

Can we contribute to core?

Published on August 25th, 2012 by OMGCarlos

I’m thinking of going in there and subbing out all the strings with get_options(). We can then create a “Language” tab in the settings page or even a new menu item which contains fields to allow my clients to easily change labels, messages, etc easily. Finally, I would have an uninstall function which would remove all the options as there would be a ton of them.

I’d like to see this added to the core plugin and wouldn’t mind doing this myself.

My question is, if I do this is this something that can be added to the core? As it stands now, it’s impossible to achieve this through a plugin, and I don’t want to waste my efforts and have this functionality become obsolete come next release.

I’d like to get started on this immediately if I get the green light.
