Way to view posts across different categories?

Published on February 20th, 2013 by coolcoon

Hi I am a user of bbpress 2.2 and WordPress 3.5.

I have a category with two topics.
I am wondering if it is possible to create a custom view that allows one to view all the posts within the category regardless of the forums (sorted by, say, post time)?
If so, please enlighten me!

How can I edit the forum to show latest topic instead of freshness?

Published on February 20th, 2013 by FlipFlop

Hi guys, I’m using the latest WordPress and BBpress over at http://cdiving.com/forums/

On the main forum page I would like to change the Freshness column so that it showed the last post in the forum instead.

Is this possible at all?

Thank you.

Forumposts don't register language

Published on February 20th, 2013 by Pieterp

Hey all

I’m running bbpress with wordpress, WPML, buddypress and the buddybosstheme. I have three fora with three subfora each, two fora and their subfora are translations of the default EN fora and subfora respectively.

When I want to create a new topic in NL or FR, these are posted under the default langguage and do not show up in the list of topics of the subforum.
Changing the language in the backend to the correct one does make them show up. If you view a topic you can’t see the actual content.
Same thing for replies. Replies don’t show up, even if you change the language.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

Pieter

Forums vs categories

Published on February 20th, 2013 by terraling

Hi, I have added bbPress with my WP and BP installation, no problems, thanks very much.

I am instructed to set the forum attribute type to Category not Forum. OK, done that, works.

But… I have read through the bbPress documentation about nesting forums which makes some mention of categories, but it is not clear to me how categories are or what the use case is.

The only place in-the-wild I have seen nested forums is on the hungarian site someone announced about 5 days ago.

Maybe I have seen categories somewhere, but I wouldn’t necessarily know.

Can anyone elaborate?

Thanks

500 Error when Editing a Reply

Published on February 19th, 2013 by Phill

I’ve been trying to figure this out since I updated to 2.2.4 but I can’t seem to get it. When ever anyone tries to edit their reply in our forums they get a 500 error, however the OP can always edit the first post of a topic. I’m not sure what to do, any suggestions?

good work

Hello, I haven’t kept up with bbPress lately but out of curiosity I came back to see how it was going. So I ran a test site with the latest 3.5.1 version of WordPress and subsequently added bbPress via the plugins page.

I must say that you guys have done well. I was sure that this software was going to end but it looks like you finally gave bbPress a permanent niche in the dev world. I loved the older versions of it as well, when the forum software had it’s own site and database. I would often toy with WordPress themes and customize bbPress to match them. But this was, by far, the easiest installation of bbPress I ever ran. It seems more common sense to use it as a plugin with WordPress since it so many people use them together.

Anyways, I knew from the overhaul of this website that the dev team hadn’t given up. I give you guys props for keeping it alive! Now all that’s left to do is keep up with rivals (ahem, Vanilla).

Keep up the good work!

Blog and Forums marked active

Published on February 19th, 2013 by docguy

I’ve got a new website I’m setting up, and this is my first time using forums. I’m not sure what to tweak so that my forums don’t also activate the “blog” tab.

Currently when you look at my site (http://n7hrc.org), the menus work fine except when you are on the forum menu. When you are on the forum menu, the forum menu AND the blog menu show up as active pages.

What I want is for only the forum menu to show active when you are on the forum page or any of its subpages (subforums).

Is there a setting I missed somewhere?

WordPress version: 3.5.1
bbPress version: 2.2.4

Forum

Hello,

I am using bbpress forums and I am wanting to make a forums page and put that page on my drop down menu. When people click on that forum link I want them to be directed to the bbpress forums. The problem is is that I made a forums page and changed the slug to the same slug as the bbpress forums page, http://botsalliance.com/forums/, but then the forums page I made took precedence over the bbpress forums page. How do I make my forums page link to the bbpress forums page so that when you click on the forums link on the drop down menu it will direct you to the bbpress forums page?

replie subscriptions

Published on February 19th, 2013 by jroli

I’ve seen a bunch of topics alluding to this, but I cant seem to find an actual solution. But I may have overlooked it, so i apologize for creating another topic if I did.

Basically, my users aren’t receiving their email subscriptions to certain topics. I can see that their being logged if i look at my own subscriptions, but no emails are actually sent.

Is this a known issue? Thanks for any help.
