  • Web site up and running: http://blueplato.com

    Check out the forum…comments welcome!

Actually, the host is bluehost and I started uploading today. I am not sure, but yes, I originly had this forum as a project on my system using EasyPHP. I now would like to have it with my website. I have tried to create a data base with the host and I reinstalled with download bbpress and filled in the new info. It came back as cannot read DB. In the host area, is this my domain, com or what?

In conjunction to the last question, I think the problem is how to set-up the data base at host location and how is this info put into the config.php? The BBDB_Host is my site ?

    Trent,

Do you mean that I go into the EasyPHP admin file and create a new data base and use this information in the config.php? If so, I just tried this and still nothing. From what I can see, the mysql is functioning as it says it is running and that I need to secure my data with a password in the configuration. Yet I have placed a password there and that won’t change. Also, where would I go to delete previous databases…I feel perhaps I should start all over!

    Thanks Trent,

I’ve tried to use the old information and I have re-installed and deleted and reinstalled bbpress and still getting the same error. I’m stumped since I have very little knowledge about data base.

    Thanks,

So do I then complete a new config.php and the data base will then be created, if so, how does this affect access to bbpress forum?

    Thank you.

Have you heard of YellowTipWS201 or what is Name Servers BIND? When someone wants to host their own site and they set XAMPP on their computer I suppose configuring everything becomes a question of ‘how to’ when you know as little as I do. Will this affect the config.php for my forum and can I adjust this?

    Absolutely brilliant!

Your assistance has been perfect. I have things changed and my site is ready to publish. I will leave it to you to critique!

    Thanks RJ…

Thanks for the great explanation. Now I have things in place but the screen shot is not showing up in the current theme display. I saved a copy to the css folder and one to an images folder in the css folder. Don’t know if this is the problem. My images are not showing up either on my forum. This was more work than I bargained for.

In reply, thanks for the direction. However, bbpress username/password are not accepted and I was directed to open an account with new information before a key was issued. I know this now!

    In reply to: Style Sheet

The set up is simply http://localhost/bp_web/forums/bbpress and the site is up with no style sheet. I have looked through the templates and I have viewed the source and the style sheet is coming-up as error 404 not found. It seems to me that somewhere in the bbpress coding that the style sheet is not linked properly. I’m not very well versed in php but I have a good handle on css and xhtml.
