My plugin – https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/recaptcha-bbpress/ – does work with the latest version of bbpress.
However, if you are using a customized template, you may need to change that, as a 0.9 template I had didn’t work with it.In reply to: Akismet doesn't catch spam
I’m not entirely sure how Akismet works, but doesn’t it work with matching email addresses to known spammers, rather than forum names?
I also think to trigger Akismet’s wrath, you’d also have to go on a mass commenting/spamming over a multitude of forums.
Just activate it, and if you’re not getting spam, assume it’s working
If you’re familiar with ReCAPTCHA I’ve written a plugin that integrates this spam prevention tool with bbPress.
It’s still waiting to go into the SVN, but you can download it here – http://www.gospelrhys.co.uk/plugins/bbpress-plugins/recaptcha-bbpress-plugin
I’ve tested this on a 0.9 site, and it’s completely eliminated spam (since Sunday…at least!)In reply to: Getting my plugin on the siteIn reply to: Two small questions
Figured it out by looking at the documentation. Silly me
Regarding the plugin, there’s a slight niggle. At the moment the plugin builds the profile URL from scratch. So it’s an extra (and I believe unessecary) option that you define if you have pretty permalinks or not.
Is there like a hook (similar to user_profile_link) that grabs the profile URL?
Also, I have no clue how to use the subversion repository. Is there a guide anywhere so I can upload my plugin there?
I have been accepted, just not sure what to do!
I have updated the plugin to allow the administrator to link to either the profile or to their chosen URL.
Let me know if you spot any bugs!In reply to: Announce new topics via Twitter
Should be very straightforward to do from the wordpress base. Could be nice to do it for both wordpress and bbpress.
