    SUCCESS!!!

It was the changes to bb-settings.php that did it, the 757 patch: https://trac.bbpress.org/ticket/757

Thanks for all the help chrishajer and livibetter. I could still be staring at my password wondering why it won’t work.

So now I have reinstalled again (to get rid of any bad changes I made while trying to figure this out) and we are good to go.

And yes, this was a “all of the sudden” problem, don’t know how, don’t know why. I have some other similar sites running the same code/settings and they still work fine without the patch even though they too have the host: ‘localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock’

Also, yes, I am on 0.8.3 and was before the issue – if you were still curious.

as my HOST, I do not use ‘localhost’ instead I have to use ‘localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock’

but this is the same as my WP and it still works.

I am tried resetting my mysql password.

I have tried creating another mysql user.

I have blown up my bbpress install and started over (I only had a couple topics going).

I don’t know what else to try.

Okay now the latest discussions do not show up on frontpage because I have attempted to completely reinstall bbpress but it still gets the same error.

I think what he might be looking to achieve is something like this setup where the forums are broken up:

    http://floridastate.rivals.com/forum.asp

He is looking for groups of forums that have a heading such as “Chicago” where “Chicago” is not a forum but just a heading.

At least that is my guess. I would also like to be able to do this if anyone knows how with bbpress.

The “No input file specified” error is because you are using pretty urls. Are you using GoDaddy as your host? Because I was having that problem with them too even though my pretty urls worked with wp they did not work with bbpress. I transferred to another host and everything was better.

Yes, the two are fully integrated – users and functions.

Sorry but I am not using MU so I don’t think I can help you there.

You may use my site Snownation. However, it is only a week old and does not have a lot of traffic yet. It is the latest wordpress integrated with the latest bbpress. Let me know if you have any questions.

On my new site http://www.SportSayer.com , you can check out what I did. I send all logins and profile views to bbpress’s version, the user never (hopefully) sees the wordpress login page or wordpress plugin page. I like how bbpress is more integrated into the site rather than wordpress’s which is a different template.

I have them working together at my new site: http://www.SportSayer.com

I had the same problem. In wordpress I had changed my display name to something other than my login name. This was the problem, when I changed it back to match my login name, it worked.

I believe that it was a problem with the way my host (GoDaddy) deals with .htaccess files. I was also having major issues with the same as this: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/pretty-permalinks-not-working?replies=29#post-5247

All-in-all, I would say stay away from GoDaddy if you are trying to do a integrated wordpress/bbpress site. I have moved the site to another host and all issues have been resolved.

Did you ever get this to work, I am having the same issue, and GoDaddy is my host as well.
