Hey guys, just a thought – is it possible to convert BBPress 2.0 threads and posts back to v1.X in any way?
In reply to: Looking for RSS feed for new topics onlyIt’s no problem, forgot I could use Yahoo! Pipes for the purpose i was after. I’ll post it here in case anyone needs this workaround.
What I wanted to do was have a selection of forum feeds (not all) which could post to Twitter via RSS. The problem was, it would have ‘reply to:’ posts being fed to Twitter too.
To solve the issue, I opened up Y!Pipes and messed around.
I took the RSS feed from each board (4 in total) and added their RSS feeds to the ‘Fetch Feed’ module.
Then, I added a ‘Sort’ module, and set it to
Sort by > “item.pubDate” > Descending
That fed into a Filter module, which I set to block any instance of the term ‘reply to’ in the item.title.
Saved the pipe, and now there’s an RSS feed of the four boards I need – combined.
If anyone needs to do similar, it’s possible to do it with single RSS feeds and customise them this way to show only new forum threads. Ideal for posting to Twitter or just as an RSS feed for certain boards on your forum (without the replies appearing too).
In reply to: bbPress 2.1 – Theme CompatibilityHow far have you guys got with the beta and any idea of an official release time?
Not wishing to hurry you, just curious!
In reply to: Looking for RSS feed for new topics onlyTried various things but still can’t get it. Going to try Y!Pipes see if it’s possible to do it that way, if there’s a simpler way to do it with bbPress please let me know.
I see – I meant port the plugin from BP to BBP if it was possible.
Hopefully some kind soul can get a plugin released soon!
In reply to: Looking for RSS feed for new topics onlyanyone?
Does the included forum system in BuddyPress vary greatly from the BBPress 2.0 plugin? There seems to be one for BP’s built in forums.
If there wasn’t too much difference i’d imagine it wouldn’t be hard to port it over.
In reply to: Adding "reply" and "new topic" buttons to my forumBit lost – where in the template should I add this bit of code?
Much thanks
In reply to: Adding "reply" and "new topic" buttons to my forumThat’s perfect 7i7GRiFFiN i’ll play with this later, thanks!
I assume that takes them to the post form area on the forum page itself?
I could do that with a ‘Reply’ button on each post too.
Much thanks
In reply to: Editing posts doesn't workI’ve reopened this, as above changing permalink structure doesn’t help.
Anyone?
In reply to: Adding "reply" and "new topic" buttons to my forumSorry to bump this but anyone know how to add New topic/reply buttons?
In reply to: Editing posts doesn't workActually, I need to reopen this.
I can edit the first post of threads, but can’t edit the replies using the edit button on the post.
I have tried to change the permalink structure then back again to reset it but it doesn’t work.
I also posted in this thread:
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/editing-topics-and-replies-in-bbpress-20
Which seems to have a possible solution but im nonethewiser as to where the code coes that is mentioned.
In reply to: Editing topics and replies in bbPress 2.0If using the default theme, where exactly would I add/edit the function ‘bbp_get_topic_edit_link’ with the code:
$uri .= ‘?edit=1’;
in bbp-topic-template.php?
Sorry not the best with php!
In reply to: Adding "reply" and "new topic" buttons to my forumI found a plugin for “quote” links under posts, but if anyone knows how to add a “New Topic” and “reply” to the top/bottom of the thread page it would be much appreciated
In reply to: Editing posts doesn't workI think this was a theme-related problem. I was using Frisco child theme and once I changed back to default it’s resolved.
