In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for help
@andreippo – Contact Robin. He will set you strait.
In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for helpI know exactly what you are saying here. This should be fundamental feature with the plugin. Soo frustrating. Do contact Robin. You will indeed find a easy solution with what he programmed for me. He was OK with me linking the plugins but he really saved me so that’s why I am asking you to contact him so that he could get a small donation.
In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for help@Cartographer I would contact Robin for the solution.
In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for helpI gave you his info because I paid him (a modest amount) to develop plugins to solve the problem. It would be great if he can get a donation.
Here are the problems he solved:
1. If you are a user and subscribe to a topic you will get notifications. However, if you actually post to the topic and do not check the “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” it will unsubscribe you from the topic. Robin created a plugin that makes the check box automatically checked if you are subscribed to a topic.
2. If a user subscribes to a forum he not automatically subscribed to new topics. Robin created a plugin to fix that as well. The only thing that you have to consider is that if there is an existing forum, once a user is subscribed they will not receive notifications to previous topics. If they are interested in them then they would need to go back and subscribe to those specific topics. However, going forward a user would always be notified of new topics posted.
Hope this helps. Again, Robin is great and I would love to see him be rewarded for fixing huge bugs within bbPress.
In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for help@rrhode – Robin was able to help me with this solution with a few plugins. Go to http://www.rewweb.co.uk/contact-me/ if you want to contact him.
In reply to: Subscription to forum level does not workUpdate: did more testing – If the user also clicks to subscribe to the post and then enters a comment into the string he does not receive any more updates.
In addition I installed a brand new version of WP running Twenty Fourteen and just the bbPress plugin. Is this a known bug?
In reply to: Subscription to forum level does not workUpdate- this solution above actually does not work.
I have done more testing and here is the problem:
A user can subscribe to a forum and will be sent notifications. However, if the user posts anything the notifications will stop coming. If he clicks to follow the post it will send notifications. The same is true for checking the box for receiving an email notification after submitting a comment. This is totally baffling and I have gotten to the point where I might just have to remove the subscribe link which totally bites. Ideas?? My client would not be happy. Thanks
In reply to: ASCII characters in email notificationsSome issue here @redkite. Any resolutions on your end?
In reply to: Subscription will not send email notificationDid you get any resolution to this?
In reply to: Email notifications not working; looking for helpDid find any solutions? I am going through the exact some thing.
I can’t edit the top portion anymore but please see the second blockquote that shows what I am talking about, not the first block quote.
In reply to: Subscription to forum level does not workI believe the issue is that users do not receive notifications when the topic is created on the back-end. If topics are created on the front end and users are subscribed to the forum they should get the notifications.
I found this previous post that describes the issue:
Users don't receive notifications for new topics created in admin
What this means in my case is that I need to instruct my keymasters or moderators to create their topics on the front end for proper notifications to happen. I have tested this and I believe it works. A pain I know, but at least there is a work-around.
In reply to: Restricting Topics with S2Member pluginEnjoy your donation. 🙂
In reply to: Restricting Topics with S2Member pluginWhoops, I thought I might have made that mistake. 🙂
Thanks again.
In reply to: Restricting Topics with S2Member pluginRobin you are the woman. Awesome. This is just what I needed.
With S2Member I was able to find a way to protect topics made in the backend but if a participant creates a topic on the front end I can’t protect it.
A much deserved donation is coming your way.
In reply to: Specific Moderator per forum? Thanks John. In the meantime do you see a work around?
