Oh, my apologies – I assumed you were on bbPress 2.x.
I’m not very familiar with 1.x (stand-alone) so I can’t really say I know of a solution for that.
In reply to: 2.1 downloadMy apologizes – I gave you the wrong link (the the non-plugin version of bbPress).
Here is the correct one:
In reply to: How do you post images and video in 2.1?To my knowledge you should just be able to install 2.1 (drop the bbPress folder into your plugins directory) and BuddyPress should just “find it”.
In reply to: 2.1 downloadHmm, I’m honestly not sure what is going on.
When you open the bbPress directory, does the inside look like this http://sht.tl/oBlq ?
You may need to tweak the permissions on the bbPress folder.
In reply to: How do you post images and video in 2.1?All the plugins on bbPress.org are for bbPress 1.0.
The plugins for bbPress 2.x go on WordPress.org.
Eventually the plugins listed here will be archived to help with the confusion
In reply to: Login LoggerWait, what version of bbPress are you using?
In reply to: Major bug with tags…You can create an account without using your real identity, so I don’t think that should be an issue.
I *think* 2.1 is supposed to be a bit better with catching the spam.
Your main problem, like you said, is allowing guest posts.
Do you have akismet enabled?
Also I would use something like https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress-recaptcha/

This one works great with WordPress, not sure how it plays with bbPress but give it a try.
In reply to: 2.1 downloadYou will need to do it using FTP.
1. downloads zip from link
2. unzip (will be a folder called trunk)
3. rename trunk to bbpress
4. access website via ftp, delete current bbpress folder in
wp-content/plugins
5. upload new one
In reply to: 404 when trying to access user profile pageHmm, that’s weird.
I’m not really sure. The next thing I would do would be to activate TwentyEleven and disable all plugins except bbPress – that would at least let you know if the problem is with a theme/plugin being used.
In reply to: Forum shows as Page.Hmm weird. Try disabling all your plugins (except bbPress) and see if that works – there could be a conflict.
Theme should be ok, bbPress doesn’t typically have any issues with TwentyTen/Eleven
In reply to: 2.1 downloadYep, you can do that with the plugin – just make sure and upgrade to 2.1 before you install it. After that just head to the Genesis settings
In reply to: How do you post images and video in 2.1?In reply to: 2.1 download2.1 can be downloaded by going to this page https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/branches/plugin and clicking download zip archive at the bottom of the page – is this the one you downloaded from earlier?
Keep in mind that 2.1 is not quite final (although stable from my testing) so it would be wise to do a backup before the upgrade if you are doing it in a production environment.
I’m actually the author of bbPress Genesis Extend. If you are using 2.0.x you actually dont need Genesis Extend (unless you want some of the new features) because bbPress 2.0.x has limited Genesis compatibility built into it.
In reply to: How do you post images and video in 2.1?I think they are going to be looked at more in depth for 2.2.
Until then you can use the attachment plugin or there will be another plugin coming out that will enable images with the tinymce editor.
In reply to: How do you post images and video in 2.1?You can post videos by use using the URL, just like you do in a WordPress post.
Just enable this in the settings (this is 2.1 only) http://sht.tl/GSr
Right now bbPress doesn’t ship with image upload capabilities, this might be worth a look https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gd-bbpress-attachments/ – I have not personally used it with 2.1 though.
In reply to: Nickname lengthThis is actually something that is set by WordPress (since bbPress uses WordPress users).
You’ll have to do some digging, this might be a starting point

In reply to: No email notifications for subscribed topicsGlad to here you got it sorted out. Not sure why that happens – I’ve encountered it with other plugins as well.
In reply to: post #2…You need to adjust the way your theme handles elements that have the
reply
class.This will get you started
.bbp-replies .reply {
float:none;
margin:0;
}
.bbp-replies .reply a {
background: none;
padding:0;
font-size:13px;
}Absolutely. Unfortunately most theme authors just don’t want to put in the time to make it “bbPress ready” out of the box.
In reply to: Problem with displaying time etc…What is the name of the new folder you are moving into the plugins directory. What’s inside it.
Sometimes it may unzip as
bbpress-r238787/bbpress/
so I just wanted to make sure that’s not the case.Inside the folder should be all the normal contents of bbPress. It should work fine on multisite without any issues.
In reply to: Spam filter over eagerI don’t think bbPress is doing this.
What plugins are you using?
In reply to: Problem with displaying time etc…Just delete the
bbpress
directory in your plugins folder and replace with the new one. You don’t need to do any uninstalling in WordPress, no.Theme’s can certainly ship with “bbPress support” if they wanted to – most just don’t.
Not sure if that’s what you are asking.
You mean adding new post types?
