We already have the style pack plugin, of course, so I will just uninstall the apparently old and unnecessary plugin, and also let the developers know about this.

Many thanks, again!

It is most likely not from the style pack, but installed separately by our outsourced developers. That’s why I don’t remember/know why the plugin was installed in the first place…

I had clicked “Disable the visual editor when writing” from the backend for my user profile. I don’t remember doing that, which is strange.

Main problem, in addition to my non PHP abilities, was me using GPT 3.5. After a paid upgrade things started going way smoother, and the code works. Some parts of the parsed text such as some colouring are blocked by a theme or a plugin, but that is fine.

Anyway, it was nice to visualize the symbols and the hand histories to the forum users.

That worked. GPT insisted that the function call was not needed even when specifically asked. Also it thought that the square brackets are some short codes that were a must, which confused me even more. The text (a poker hand history from a software) starts like this:
[converted_hand][hand_history]PokerStars – €0.50 PL Hi FAST (6 max) – Omaha Hi – 6 players

BTN: €52.28 (104.6 bb)
SB: €24.25 (49 bb)
Hero (BB): €84.89 (169.8 bb)
UTG: €52.86 (105.7 bb)
MP: €31.34 (62.7 bb)
CO: €50.00 (100 bb)

SB posts €0.25, Hero posts BB €0.50

If I get this thing working I will make sure to update my old question about the hand histories in case some1 else is looking for a similar thing.
Thanks Robin!

yes, on bbpress forums.

I got the code from Chat GPT which ensured me that it would work (ie. clicking send would call the function and execute it) and gave me a few other pieces of more or less similar type of code. As you can see I am quite clueless on this stuff albeit I used to know some Python.

How to proceed..

This is related to this https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/poker-hand-histories-not-converted/#post-237481
We have some freelance developers helping out but they didn’t understand at all what I was trying to accomplish, so I am set to do this “alone” for now, with not much success :/

I could not isolate the issue but clicking “remember me” when signing up resolved the issue at least for the browser (profile) mentioned.

Thanks again for the comments Robin.

BUMP.
Robin, my users are complaining that they are being logged out. It’s not certain yet if that has happened while the browser has just been idle.

I tested this with keymaster and participant accounts and found no difference when I closed the browser and re-opened it.

Brave and Edge browsers worked just fine (login, close, re-open and the user is still logged in) but when I tested two different Chrome profiles the other one remembered me, and the other one (again, no difference between participant and keymaster).

The only difference that I could find was that the one that remembered the login has one plugin, Lastpass, and the other doesn’t have any. But then again a third profile which has a bunch of plugins did not remembered the login.

I just can’t figure out what could make the difference here.

Thanks Robin. I have WP in Finnish to have proper translations in the forums and that occasionally makes finding the proper settings quite challenging..

Thanks, that is good to know.
I am more interested in making the hierarchy logical, but for now I will play with the cards I’ve been dealt. The forum and subforum names are logical, and they don’t contain the same words (much).

🙂
Well not many really KNOW how Google’s algorithm works, but there are just educated guesses. And mine is that the URL’s should be hierarchical:
/category/forum/thread/post would be hierarchical, but apparently not possible.

Anyways, thanks for the help and comments Robin. SEO isn’t that important to the site, but I thought I’d give it a go as the weird structure bothers me 🙂

@getfree

Thanks Robin.

I had it unchecked. Which got me more confused.

BUT, the reason was that the root had the exact same name as a category (main forum), that I used as an example, so the slug for a (sub) forum is actually:
/Forum/category_name/(sub)forum_name

Is there a way to remove the “Forum”? Even that feels unnecessary to me. Again I’m no expert in SEO.
And is there a way to include /category_name/(sub)forum_name in a thread URL?

Thanks Robin. I will pass this forward to our developer.

Interestingly in the HTML version in my forum the “Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3″ link shows:
a href=”URL”>Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3<a. I removed the <,> in the beginning and the end)
