More about this—When I click on the New Topic link, I get this error:

Warning: ldap_search() [function.ldap-search]: Search: Operations error in /var/www/html/bbpress/my-plugins/ldap-authentication.php on line 337

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/html/bbpress/my-plugins/ldap-authentication.php:337) in /var/www/html/bbpress/bb-includes/pluggable.php on line 188

But if I go into a topic and at the bottom, it says, you must log in to post, when you click on the login link, which goes to bb-login.php, a blank user is created and they can do anything.

Yes, it might have been, because I cleared all my cookies and that made it work again.

So it turns out–this is a Firefox 3 bug! It works on IE, Safari, and Firefox 2.

Yep, that’s the only thing that doesn’t work. I was able to register another user, post to a forum, etc.

The install is on a linux box. The directory for the install is /var/../…/bbpress

Good questions! This is an initial install, so there’s nothing previous there. When I click the admin link, it reloads the front page. I can click on a forum or post and it takes me to the right page. The permalinks appear to be numeric. I haven’t made any changes at all. I am using the default theme, no plugins. It’s a pretty virgin install. :)

ck–I can’t even get to the admin panel at this point as the install didn’t create a keymaster account.

benzilla–all my files are 777 and still the issue.

Also, I should note that I got the same error just now when I logged in to *this* site, so it seems like a software problem. I’ll check the known issues area in trac.

What we’ve come up with so far is that in in bb-load.php, there’s a loop happening when installation doesn’t complete. It could be something along the lines of what you mention, ck, in that the location is redirected. I’d change the settings but I don’t see where to do that. I’m going to see what I can do later today and I’ll be sure to post any updates.

Thanks for both your responses. We decided to move the database to the same server. I’m now having issues with the WordPress cookies, but at least that’s a new problem!
