    Michael, I have this one working in 1.0.2:

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/open-links-in-new-window/page/2#post-57027

    http://pastie.org/753419

    http://pastie.org/753419.txt

    (not sure how long pastie links are good for)

    I think I changed pre_post to post_text. And also, in that original post, the $1 is stripped out. That one had me puzzled for a while. Look closely at any of those posts with preg_replace in them and you can see two spaces in some places. That’s where the $1 should be.

    Glad you found it. Generally things don’t go from working to non-working on their own without something to trigger that. In this case it was triggered by something you didn’t know anything about. Thanks for posting this for others to see.

    > have you had any issue with your 3 forums’ bbPress registration emails hitting folks’ spam folks?

    Not really. Occasionally someone will email me and tell me they never received their password reset email, but that’s easily handled manually. The 3 forums are small, so management is not a problem. If they were larger with more users, I’d be looking for better ways of automating the management of them, but right now they are just fine. I have _ck_’s human test installed on all 3, and don’t use akismet. Occasionally I get a spam post, but it’s just a minor nuisance. At least I don’t have any trouble with false positives with Akismet. Again, if they were larger volume, I’d be looking for other ways of managing the forums.

    What theme are you using that has a sidebar?

    That will happen if you’re not logged in as keymaster. Are you already logged in? Maybe that user lost keymaster privileges?

    Or, since you changed domains, ensure that your .htaccess rules are all correct and any settings in the bb-config.php and database (which you’ll have to access directly since you can’t log in) point to the correct domain.

    Finally, just try a different browser or ensure you clear the cookies in the old browser to make sure none of that is fouling things up. Using a new browser ensures there’s no old cookies to worry about.

    No apologies necessary.

    I too am using various versions of bbPress (I think 1.0-alpha 2, 1.0.2 and 0.9.0.4) without problem. It works just great for me. So, thanks once again and sincerely, Happy Holidays to you.

    Where did I say that, or where did you read that? I don’t think I ever said it. That’s one of the main benefits of integration, single sign on, and pittsleyb didn’t need that, so I didn’t even address it.

    How long was it working before it became broken? Any changes that could contribute to breaking it (software upgrade, server upgrade, new host?)

    What bbPress version are you using?

    @chrishajer

    Wow, that’s a big dangerous jump there from you being a fan to “other people too.” How about some hard data, as johnhiler has linked to?

    Here’s some anecdotal evidence. Of all the forums I run (three) no one has ever asked me about Facebook Connect. People who are engaged with the community or topic don’t seem to have a problem creating an account to participate there. I still think there are many more basic things to get working before worrying about a moving target, external API. Plus, it should probably start out as a plugin anyway. If there is interest in it, it will happen.

    My opinion.

    Q1 – many people want to share user details, share WordPress and bbPress functions and get a similar look between WordPress and bbPress.

    Q2. Yes. One problem arises when you want your navigation from WordPress to be present in bbPress. Most people want to do that with wp_list_pages or get_header or something, and those functions aren’t normally available in bbPress unless you integrate somehow. If you just want a link back to the WordPress site in bbPress, you can just edit your template files. Getting current navigation in bbPress that matches your WordPress site is harder and some people like to do “deep integration” to have access to WordPress functions in bbPress. If you don’t care about that, don’t integrate.

    Q3. Yes. It’s a little harder but will probably have a better end result. There were a couple of bbPress <> WordPress plugins, but they’re out of date now. If you post what you mean by “integrate posts” someone will help with how to do that without resorting to integration.

    ipstenu, what do you think about hosting ga.js locally and keeping it up to date?

    What version of bbPress, WordPress and plugin are you using? Also, the URL to the plugin please.

    @chrishajer

    yes, it’s possible. I would back up the complete database if you can, but if not, at least the user table and usermeta, because that’s what bbPress will mess with when it tries to integrate. Backup everything first then give it a shot.

    > What is the harm in including additional features

    The harm is that there are a limited number of resources, so prioritizing what gets worked on is important to using those resources wisely.

    I’m not looking at it at all from the perspective of “now I have to use this” I’m looking at it from the perspective of “we have XX hours this month to work on bbPress, what should we be working on?”

    @chrishajer

    Do we really, really, think that this is something vital to having people competantly use a BBpress forum?

    I do not. There are far more important things to get right in bbPress right now than Facebook Connect.

    This post is great:

    There’s no way anyone would have censored that. There’s a lot of great commentary in that post.

    but i still doubt that many people will be up for documenting a version of BBpress that is likely to be replaced realtively soon

    @kevinjohngallagher

    I know I’m not interested in doing it. I imagine anyone who developed a plugin for 0.9 or earlier felt the same way about the move to 1.0.

    Hey Elias, get over it. No one is censoring your posts. It was caught by Akismet and I released it. That’s all it was. There were about 6 long posts on two threads that were caught in the same way.

    And I do think somewhere 3 links is built in to the black box that is Akismet. Maybe that’s variable, but I’ve seen posts with two links get through but three get caught.

    And finally, I think the feature poll was a little premature if it was ever needed. A better question in my mind would be “what does bbPress need” – not features, but what is most needed.

    Lets focus on getting BBpress to meet the bare minimum of what it says on the tin

    I really can’t understand why most people voted for “integration with wordpress

    I voted for integration because it’s the number one, most common problem here, based on the number of questions, most often used tag, big selling point was “ease of integration” and that promise has been completely unmet. Getting single log in working for bbPress and WordPress, getting the theme to look the same, having access to WordPress functions, all these things are promised by integration, and none of them work unless you light some incense and candles, sacrifice an animal and dance around naked under a silver moon. Then, MAYBE, you can get integration working. I don’t want a single new feature until that happens.

    Until that point, and until people here stop asking how to do it, I will continue to vote for integration as the number one feature. If it’s not going to happen, then stop saying it will on the front page of this website.

    the_censored_one – I don’t think there’s any conspiracy. There were a few long posts caught by akismet today. If you posted as Elias, I rescued that one. It happened to a couple other regular posters as well with long posts and lots of links.

    So I understand what you’re trying to do, look at this page:

    http://www.lawserver.com/forums/forum/elderly

    On that page, there are three subforums (and not much traffic.) On this page, you would want to see latest discussions for each subforum, or latest discussions from any subforum, listed here? Trying to understand the scope of the problem. Thanks
