100% sure, because I ran the repair on one window, while the forum was showing in another, and I immediately went to refresh to page to see the date change, and I saw those sub-forums disappear.
And no child theme. Just GeneratePress and Elementor.
Yes, it looks like it is fixed for now.
However, the sub-forums in the SHOWROOM don’t show anymore. One additional oddity I found is that, in the Index, if I click on the “time of the last entry”, I will normally reach the thread in question; however, in one case (in the Showroom), clicking on the time associated with what is said to be ‘Michele aka micfin’ thread, it only directs you to reply to a thread that is not even displayed.
It is the only place I see something like that, and that time is way off as there has been many many replies since, on the topic she posted AND on other topics too.In fact, when you go in the SHOWROOM forum, on top, it states:
“This forum has 84 topics, 4,935 replies, and was last updated 5 days, 3 hours ago by Michele aka micfin.” which does not even match what you can see below. The same thing happens in the LET’S TALK section, where it says:
“This forum has 88 topics, 488 replies, and was last updated 2 days, 14 hours ago by Ken Veal.” while this is also inaccurate.Strangely, in the LOBBY, it does display correctly, even if there were replies.
From what I can observe,
– NEW TOPICS, will show the correct time, in the Index. (ex: in Challenges, I posted a new topic 2 days ago and it shows as 1 day 20 hours ago and it is accurate)– REPLIES to new topics don’t seem to show all the time:
ex: in the LET’S TALK forum, inside the PSP Talk forum, Ken posted something over 2 days ago. That is what is displayed in the Index, however, I added a reply to his thread, and it is not taken into consideration (the time or even that *I* posted last)I have tested it just now:
– I posted a new thread inside the LOBBY, not inside any other sub-forum: the date appears ok in the Index
– I replied to a post in the LOBBY (Date issue in the forum): the date does not appear at all in the Index, but if you go in the LOBBY, then the date shows and is correct.Hope this helps.
I don’t have any caching plugin.
I have not found one that works with my setup.Yes, it only started recently.
I posted a note in the forum to the members, on Nov 14th. That was just after the upgrade to 2.6.Yes SHOWROOM is a forum
Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent NONE – Order 0This is what I have (the first 2 forums only):
Lobby
— Announcement – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent LOBBY – Order 0
— ChitChat – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent LOBBY – Order 0
— Introduction – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent LOBBY – Order 0
— Suggestion box – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent LOBBY – Order 0Showroom
— Feedback Request – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent SHOWROOM – Order 0
— Let’s share – Forum – Status OPEN – Visibility PUBLIC – Parent SHOWROOM – Order 0I have more, but one thing that is obvious is that inside the SHOWROOM, there are threads that are quite active, but don’t show.
For example, in the forum index, for the SHOWROOM forum, it shows the last thread as 4 days 6 hours ago. But if you click on the SHOWROOM forum to see what is inside, you will see that in the threads, the last one is actually less than 2 hours ago (the Bootcamp thread).
Here is the forum: https://scrapbookcampus.com/community/
I hope those details are what you are asking for.
Just chiming in with a different setup. I don’t have any private section on my forum, but I still have that freshness mismatch. So I am also waiting for a solution.
I don’t use WP Super Cache or Performance Cache and I still have issues. So it has to do with something else.
They were all set to Forums.
I checked the parent and it was all set correctly.
The only difference I saw is that the order, in the Showroom was all set to 0, while the others had a number (for their order). I changed it to 0 for the Lobby and the Let’s Talk, and now, they all display correctly.Strange. It works now. I never changed those order values since I set up the forum.
But at least, it works now.
Thanks for the help.Yes, the Lobby and the Let’s talk should also display the topics, just like the Showroom does now and just like in your screenshot.
Here is what I get, and it is always the case:
I don’t use categories: I have only have Forums and Topics.
Trying to figure out what has happened.
I know I have updated a handful of other plugins after upgrading to 2.6.1 so I deactivated all the plugins that I had upgraded and nothing changed. What I find strange is that the section called “Showroom” does show the topics inside on the forum index but not the Lobby or the Let’s talk section, so it would not be something affecting all the forums/topics like a plugin conflict.
I have BuddyPress and bbpress style pack active, but even if I deactivate them, those topics still don’t show on the index page.
What else should I look into as POSSIBLE culprit?
Yes, that is what I see when I click on the Lobby section. But they used to be visible similar to this Wayback screenshot (scroll to the bottom):
https://web.archive.org/web/20190222052723/http://scrapbookcampus.com/community/Right now, the only ones visible are those in the Showroom.
I refreshed he browser. I tried on an incognito window. I even changed from Chrome to Explorer, and changed computer, and I still don’t see, for example, the 4 topics inside the Lobby, or the 2 in the Let’s talk section.
I am not sure what is happening. The topics DID display, yesterday, just after I upgraded the plugin to 2.6.1, but it didn’t last.
Updated to 2.6.1 and it was solved for a few minutes, but now, it is no longer showing the topics.
I updated the plugin and the problem was solved, but now, a few minutes later, it is no longer showing. Strange.
I was coming to report the exact same thing!
I came to report the exact same thing.
In reply to: Scheduling a TopicJust to add some complications, now, if I want to schedule a topic, I don’t have the box for Author’s information anymore. Even when I look at the screen options, that is not even an option. Strangely, older topics do show that box.
The only thing I remember doing since last time I scheduled a topic is that I added a captcha to the BuddyPress registration page (because I was getting hundreds of spam registrations). I cannot see that affecting the Author’s information display.
Any idea what might be happening?
In reply to: Scheduling a TopicThe Classic.
In reply to: Scheduling a TopicAs I am delegating this task of scheduling topics, I noticed that it would be under my assistant’s name and not mine. I see a box on the right side with Author Information, but it only has an ID number and I am not sure where to get the ID number for each user we want to assign any forum post to.
Can someone point me to the right place?
In reply to: Scheduling a TopicThank you. It works now. I am not sure what I was doing different or wrong before, but now, it is ok.
