I am trying to transition from an Invision Power Board-hosted forum to a BBPress version, but need a few features to ensure all features are kept in the new version.
Basically, I want people to be able to add more information to their profile information. Occupation and location aren’t relevant to me, but other things (its for a college discussion forum, so year and major are more helpful) would be.
It’s a bit of a tangent, but I also would like to have one of the added fields (Real Name) be the primary name displayed in threads, but I figure that’s another project for another day — alternatively, is there a plugin to allow individuals to change their display name?

First of all, I would like to extend my thanks for this great and simple tool. I have been modifying the initial theme of my bbpress from its installation earlier today. Now the only thing which has me stumped, is how can I change the alternating background color (the white and green background), so that lets say I can change the white into another color?
If its in the style.css section, I cant find it.
If people need more immediate help, can they go to the bbPress IRC channel, and how would they do that?

I’m working on a two column template.
in the front-page.php it’s possible to have the forum list in a table.
I’d like to have this list also in other pages, that is, for instance, in the forum.php or in the topic.php.
if I try to run this list in other pages than front-page.php I obtain this error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [my template path]forum.php on line 23
(the line number is not relevant because I modified the code).
it seem that the variable $Forums in this foreach is not loaded with the needed data.
foreach ( $forums as $forum ) { ...
I’ve tried to find out where it is that is loaded, so that I can load it also in forum.php etc., but I was not able to find out.
someone can tell me where it is that is loaded, and other suggestion on how to have the list of forums in all pages?

Still new to bbpress. Sometimes any text post I make will not show. It will update the thread, and increase the post count, but the post does not show.
I don’t have spam filter on. Post doesn’t show up in admin control panel.
Happens sometimes when I copy and paste into the post. (even if its just plain text)
Does it from the admin account and another test account.
When I come back later, and it works fine.
Any, ideas?

I somehow managed to “integrate” my bbpress with WP (the part of users, cookies), BUT:
1) How can I wrap the forum inside my WP blog (like in wordpress.com) ?

Hi. I downloaded the ‘support forum’ plug-in to my site. When I go the admin area and go to the ‘site management’ and then ‘support forums’ page. The page just says “Support Forums” and is otherwise blank with no links or anything. And there is no ‘this topic is:’ drop-down in forum posts or as far as I can find, a way to enable it.
I followed the instructions on the support forum plug-in download page and I’m running bbpress 8.1. Any suggestions?
